So, Dark Sarah is born from the anger and pain the original Sarah felt after her groom left her at the altar. Then, over the course of their journey together, Dark Sarah forms a bond with the Dragon and comes to trust him — only for him to betray her as well. In her death there will be more kindness than in the men she met.
Dark Sarah: Promise me you'll spare a thought for me... The Dragon: Promises are not made for me... Dark Sarah: ...when dreaming the darkest dreams you hold the key The Dragon: I don't know... Dark Sarah: Think of me through your eternity... The Dragon: Promises are not made for me! Dark Sarah: I'll be the darkest star, the only star that you can see!
As the Gods kill her, her only remaining hope is to avenge herself in the afterlife, somehow.
The Dragon repeats, "I really have no kindness!" like he's trying to convince her - and himself as well. "The Chronicles" shows his point of view:
For a moment he heard Dark Sarah gasping for air and then only silence. He could not bear it anymore and turned the watch with the key.
In "Golden Moth," she dies. The lyrics are rather minimalistic yet powerful, and she sounds absolutely exhausted, broken, and resigned.
