"The Princess Who Loves Bones"

  • The realization that the old couple were murdered and their deaths were covered up so that the police thought they killed themselves.

"Where Do You Live?"

  • Ii-chan being forced to live in foster care with her infant brother after their mom sacrificed her life to save them from their murderous, drug addict dad. From the team's discovery of the crime, to learning about that poor woman's final struggles as she desperately shielded her children... it's a heartbreaking turn of events.
  • Sakurako being worried about Shotaro risking himself to save a wounded Hiroki by taking down the drug addict because his actions reminded her of Soutarou, her dead little brother.

"The Bones that Slumber in Summer"

  • The anguish Yuriko went through when she found out that her grandmother had died in an assumed case of suicide until Sakurako deduced that she died from a bad fall.

"The Cursed Man"

  • Takeshi Fujioka's willingness to die to provide for his family via insurance. Not only that, but the revelation that most of the male members of his family died thanks to an improperly stored painting that released a deadly gas.

"The Entrusted Bones"

  • Sakurako realizes that, having lied about the origin of her child, her teacher's sister unwittingly prevented the transformation of her brother and their half-sister into a couple. At an already mature age, he accidentally finds out about it, but already after her death.

"The Butterfly Vanished in November"

  • The entire situation with "the Three Sisters", mentally ill schoolgirls manipulated by Hanabusa. One ends up dead, another arrested for the murder, and another institutionalized following a violent breakdown.
