- "Clark Ashton Smith" is both parts Heartwarming Moment and Tear Jerker. H.P. reads the poetic eulogy that Smith wrote for his death and then eulogies Smith himself, regretting that his resurrection still keeps them apart.H. P. Lovecraft: "He wrote that for me when I died. And now that I am back, I find that he is gone. It seems we just keep missing each other. Isn’t that always the way with good friends."
- In "Sonia", Howie muses on his Real Life complicated relationship with his ex-wife Sonia Greene and his failings to her as a husband. The fact it is addressed directly to a confused and newly resurrected Sonia Greene grants it even more pathos.H. P. Lovecraft: "This not some cosmic sense of dread but just pedestrian fear. Of one's self. Of facing one's true self with no illusions. Seeing all one's adequacies or lack thereof. And then finding someone who sees all that. Who comes to know you better than you know yourself. Who is able to correlate the contents of one's life without blinking. That it truly terrifying. And I think the impulse is to either run away or to cling tight and never let go. And somehow it seems I managed to accomplished both."
