Given the nature of the game, it's full of references to classical Chinese literature, poetry, folklore, religion and philosophy. Outside of that, there's also pop culture references.

  • Butler Guō/Harbin Fried Pork's entire character is one big reference to Black Butler, to the point where his voice actor in the Japanese dub is Daisuke Ono.
  • Suckling Pig Roast's gift is a pair of lightsabers.
  • The first episode of Candied Gingko Nut’s Character Story, which themes around treasure, has the dazed Suckling Pig Roast quote Gol D. Roger. The player can also reply appropriately.
Suckling Pig Roast: "—Do you want the greatest treasure in this world?! To the rear mountains you go! I’ve left everything there!!! Zzz…"
    Possible reply: "Flames D. Emperor?"
  • The description of the item Omiki makes a reference to the wine making scene in Your Name.
Supposedly the locals use it to worship the gods. Drink it to earn protection of the divine... Is the rice fermented after the priestess chews it, like that anime film?
  • One of the filler events where the player clears the Rabbit Roulette for a set number of times is called "Attack on Bunny".
  • The group chat for the Gaming Club is essentially named "No Game No Life".
