- The privateer is from a colony on Planet Glorie. Glorie was the name of the planet where Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross took place.
- Tatsunoko Mimiko refers to Tatsunoko Productions, which licensed the three series to Harmony Gold.
- Aisha (Mimi's wingman) is the name of Marlene/Ariel's counterpart in Genesis Climber MOSPEADA
- Ebrahim Mlama is a veteran of the Southern Cross.
- Gabe crashes into a barn, just like Marty Mc Fly in Back to the Future
- Like Scott Bernard, Gabe is the sole survivor of his squadron and crashed on Earth. Unlike Scott, he was an entry-level officer, just like Stig (Scott's counterpart) in Genesis Climber MOSPEADA
- The privateer works on a GR-01 Garland. She mentions its poor handliong compared to most bikes, which was Shogo Yahagi's experience with the Garland in Megazone 23.
- The privateer misnames Roy Fokker as "Ray Focker" Roy Focker was the name of Skull Leader in Super Dimension Fortress Macross.
- Itzak's bike is a Suzuki, just like Shogo Yahagi's regular bike in Megazone 23
- Walera Gashtar (Gabe's dad) is named after Warera Nantes, one of the Zentradi defectors from Super Dimension Fortress Macross.
- the United Nations Aerospace Academy is based upon the real life United States merchant Marine Academy
. The Tirol Aerospace Academy is based on state maritime academies. - Chapter 19 is a shout-out to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes (1977)
- The title of Chapter 20, "Grand Theft Protoculture", is a shout out to the video game franchise Grand Theft Auto.
- Black Mesa is the name of one of the factions resisting the Invid.
- The Title of Chapter 25, "A Rainy Night", shares the name of a Robotech episode.
- New Masada refers to Masada, the fortress where Jewish rebels made their last stand during the Jewish-Roman War.
- The privateer has dreams due to inhaling the Spores of the Flowers of Life, just like Dana and Rand.
- Iron Mountain has the same fate as Point K.
- The plot of Chapter 30 and 31 is based upon Rambo IV
- Colonel Khin was named after Maung Maung Khin, who played the main villain in that movie.
- Mayumi Yumekano (the trauma physician who treated the privateer) is named after Mai Yumekano (Stacy Embry's counterpart in Megazone 23) and Mayumi Sho (the Japanese voice actress)
- Vic Yahagi (the physical therapist) was named after Shogo Yahagi (the male lead of Megazone 23) and Vic Mignogna (the English voice actor)
- Ling Baoxing (the owner of the Golden Dragon Chinese restaurant) is a reference to Minmei's father in Super Dimension Fortress Macross.
- Colonel Nova Satori's aide is Sergeant Isavia. Satori's counterpart in Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross is named Lana Isavia.
- The privateer's yellow dress is based on Belle's dress from Beauty and the Beast (2017). Note that Gabe was wearing dinner dress blues.
- Gabe was wearing dinner dress blues under his CVR-3 armor when he was killed in battle with the Invid. Roy Fokker was wearing the equivalent of a Class "A" service uniform under his flight suit when he was mortally wounded in the episode "Goodbye, Big Brother".
- Solzie is named after Sera's counterpart in Genesis Climber MOSPEADA
- The Invid Overlord is the Final Boss of Robotech: Invasion.
- Solzie's mutated forms are based upon the first two forms of "G" from Resident Evil 2.
