A Sketch Comedy series running from 1991 to 1996 with a focus on Black and South Asian culture.

Not to be confused with the Kim Basinger film of the same name.

Provides examples of:

  • Carpet of Virility: Pinkie's male costar in her latest film wears an outfit that shows off his chest hair.
  • Mistaken for Racist: One sketch features a gang of robbers being sentenced, with one black gang member and the rest being white. The white gang members all had major parts, but get light sentences. The black member is the getaway driver, and is sent down for hard time. He complains that the sentencing is racist, and that all he did was drive the getaway car and while doing so crashed into another car. 'Yes', the judge agrees, 'but it was my car'.
  • My Biological Clock Is Ticking: At the newsdesk on WHAT! Time You Call This Britain, Collette flatly announces that the main headline is that she wants a baby before passing over to Llewella for the weather.
  • Queer People Are Funny: A sketch in the opening episode features two runners posturing about whose jumpsuit looks best, with the joke seemingly being that they're two feminine men who like sequins.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The set of WHAT! Time You Call This Britain bears a pretty strong resemblance to the set of TV-AM's Good Morning Britain. The news desk even has a broken egg logo similar to the TV-AM eggcups.
    • MC Hammer raps about his poor eyesight.
  • Tomato Surprise: One sketch features a family at the dinner table where the youngest of the two kids claims that he's an alien. Later, his parents wonder if he's been behaving oddly because he feels left out of the family for some reason, and the camera pulls back to reveal that the three of them have merfolk tails.
