Yasuke
Yasuke is an upcoming anime by LeSean Thomas, that loosely tells the story of the real life African samurai known as Yasuke. This version takes the historical Yasuke and puts him in a world of mechs and magic, set in an alternate version of Feudal Japan, where the retired warrior is forced to protect a strange child who seems to be the target of malevolent forces.
Lakeith Stanfield is set to voice the title character, while acclaimed experimental hip-hop artist Flying Lotus will score the soundtrack. Japanese studio MAPPA will animate the series. It is set to air on Netflix at an unknown date.

Tropes:
- Celebrity Voice Actor: Lakeith Stanfield, an acclaimed and award-winning actor, as the voice of Yasuke himself.
- Pop-Star Composer: Flying Lotus, who normally does experimental hip-hop and IDM, is the composer of the soundtrack.
- Historical Fantasy: The setting plays fast and loose with the material, putting in magic and mecha in a Feudal Japan setting.
- Retired Badass: Yasuke is retired by the time the series begins, and is called back into action to protect a child from malevolent forces.
- Schizo Tech: It needs to be said: mecha in Feudal Japan.
- Spiritual Successor: The premise is a lot like Afro Samurai from 2007, in terms of being an anime that focuses on a black samurai with a Celebrity Voice Actor in a hip-hop-influenced world.
