Hello, GastonRabbit here. I made this sandbox because I might need it in the future. Maybe. Also, because having the tab on my Troper page saves me the trouble of having to manually edit the URL.

Trope Report

Greetings! Trope Report's [month] newsletter is here. You can read it at Newsletter/[issue].

    Short-Term Projects Herald PM
Hello, [[troper]], and welcome to Projects: Short Term! Like Long-Term Projects, this forum is intended for cleaning up both the wiki in general and specific pages here. Unlike Long-Term, most projects here are expected to have a definitive end, and we also do a lot of franchise and work cleanups here. We have numerous topics, each with its own thread, so you're pretty likely to find at least one project that interests you. However, if you're planning to contribute to any of these projects, you need to first know how this forum works. Beyond the general forum rules, there are some specific guidelines you need to follow to contribute to these projects:

  • Consensus is key. These threads only work if everyone is willing to cooperate, even if they disagree with each other. Be civil, and be willing to join in on a discussion. The more hands the better, and people are always looking for advice or consensus, so don't be the person who won't listen to others. And don't pick fights, even if you strongly disagree with someone or something. If you see a troper or tropers creating problems, report the situation either by hitting the Holler button or by posting in Ask The Tropers.

  • Try not to lose your temper, and let the mods handle it. Remember that everyone here is trying to work. If you're more interested in chatting, goofing around, or other off-topic stuff than you are pitching in, this isn't the forum for you. We want to keep things relaxed and breezy even while doing cleanup, but derailing threads or failing to contribute in any kind of meaningful manner will only create problems. Stay on topic, stay focused on the thread's goal, and keep the unrelated chatter to a minimum. Some threads may have their own rules, which are always posted at the top of each page (and should themselves be followed), but these general rules are what you need to know in order to work on this forum.

  • Finally, if you want to join a thread that isn't very active, don't be afraid to give it a little bump; as long as your new post is contributing to the project or bringing the project back to life, we aren't as concerned about necro-posting.

That said, this forum isn't all rules and work; as long as you keep a cool head and stay on task, you can still joke around and have fun, too. Believe me, everything goes a lot smoother with some levity.

Please note that this forum does not concern itself with changing trope definitions, changing images, or cleaning up tropes. For those sort of things, check out the Trope Repair Shop, Image Pickin', and our sister forum, Projects: Long Term/Perpetual, respectively. For discussing wiki policy, you want Wiki Talk; and for discussing the meaning and scope of various tropes, you want Trope Talk. It's best to keep these sort of subjects out of the cleanup threads—as they can derail cleanup efforts.

Still have questions? Go ahead and ask me or one of the other moderators and we will help as soon as possible.

    Content Violation Discussions Herald PM
Hello, [[troper]], and welcome to the Content Violation Discussions forum. This section of the forums is dedicated to the cleanup of pages focus on overly lewd works and those that sexualize children with our aims stated in full here. Due to the sensitive and occasionally controversial nature of the discussions at hand, we have some basic ground rules to cover and information to provide.

  • The forum is where Content Policy violation reports go to be reviewed. A moderator will review the threads generated by reports, and if the threads are approved, the reports will be voted on regarding whether the reports are valid.
  • We are focused on the judgment of works deemed to be porn or pandering to pedophiles. We view the distinction between pedophilia and drawn children to be irrelevant to our aims here. We are not interested in series that are merely high in fanservice or gorn, though those can play a role in decisions made by the community. Pages are flagged via a button within the tools section in the sidebar on the right side of wiki articles, and this generates a thread on the forum, which will be locked by default and reviewed by a moderator (and unlocked if the report is deemed appropriate for the forum). We ask that you not abuse this function as we have enough work to do as it is and the moderation can see who tagged which pages. Works that have been rated as acceptable for teens or officially licensed for distribution to said teens are generally given a free pass when it comes to our work here, though there may be rare exceptions. If you feel a work is not rated properly by our criteria, you will need to clearly state why.
  • The Content Policy loosely defines porn as being works that have little merit other than causing titillation and arousal. A work has to be rather questionable to qualify for this. Pedopandering, the term most commonly used for the other aspect of what we do here tends to be judged far more harshly. We have a zero-tolerance policy in this respect. This means no sex involving children unless condemned, no depictions of sex meant for titillation and a harsh eye for excessive fanservice. Apparent children qualify for this as well. Really 700 Years Old is not an acceptable excuse.
  • A work either fails or passes depending on the consensus in the thread for the report, after which it will be logged on The Content Policy Administrivia page. Do note, however, that not everything voted upon is either allowed to go entirely free or be sent directly to the Cut List. An overly prurient work may have cleaner adaptations the page may be restricted to and an article that attracts too much unpleasant editing can simply be locked to normal editing.
  • Remember to keep things civil. Failure to abide by common rules of polite conversation and disruptive behavior can and will get you removed from the forum. We do not need abuse of the system or the users involved in the process, which is stressful enough as it is. Thus, it is in everyone's best interests (yours included) if you can maintain a respectful attitude even if you do not agree with the work that is being done. Overt hostility does nothing for any cause you may have.
  • Finally, the Content Violation Discussions forum is not a soapbox. We are not interested in discussing the policy, which has been debated thoroughly. Please leave your opinions at the door.

For those of you who wish to make a specific appeal or condemnation for a work that is being judged, please remember to check the following areas for information. Things will likely go much more smoothly this way.

  • The Post-links Thread is dedicated to chronicling debate and arguments over works and is split into two main sections for works that are still being judged and those that have been finished. Works that have finished discussion may be brought up for further debate in Page Restorations, but please remember that unless new information is provided the decision is unlikely to be overturned and the appeal may be thrown out immediately.
  • Content Policy Discussion covers anything regarding questions or debate regarding the current Content Policy as outlined above.

Finally, before posting, make sure to check out our directory. Once again, welcome to Content Violation Discussions and may your stay here be a constructive and pleasant one.

After reading this PM, I hope you have a better understanding of what the Content Violation Discussions forum is for. If you have further questions, feel free to ask me or one of the other mods. Have fun Troping!
