    Tropes applying to both
  • Forced into Evil: Both of them are forced into Selene's evil schemes that turn them both into a major threat to Earth-land and Fairy Tail: Faris is pressured by Selene into trying to kill the Five Dragon Gods under threat of her homeworld's destruction, eventually getting her mind warped by the cult she commandeered out of necessity and turning into a villain in her own right, while Touka gets roped into the whole mess after Faris steals her body just as a means of going to and from Earth-land in the first place.

    Tropes applying to Touka
  • Humanity Ensues: Her true form is an Exceed from Elentir, but after getting taken over by Faris, she was forced into Faris's human form. She's only able to switch back into her regular form when Faris isn't in control, and after they get separated by Wendy, she changes back permanently.
  • Making a Splash: She tells Lisanna that she's able to use water magic, which appears to be Foreshadowing that she (through Faris) actually possesses the power of Mercphobia, the Water Dragon God. It's later shown that she uses Aqua Aera, a variation of regular Aera that allows her to create a portal between alternate worlds when she has access to water.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Played for Laughs when Touka finds out she confused her beloved Happy's name with Natsu's, which she declares to be the second biggest mistake of her life behind letting the White Mage take control of her.
  • Poor Communication Kills: This is what caused her to mix up Happy and Natsu's names, as she assumed Happy rescued her while riding on the back of a dragon when he was actually carrying Natsu into battle, and Happy appeared to be introducing himself as Natsu when he was actually introducing Natsu on his behalf, since he was choking on food at the time.
  • Ship Sinking: Lucy sympathetically expects this to happen between Natsu and Touka, due to Natsu being Oblivious to Love. It does, but not in the way anyone expects, as it turns out she's actually interested in Happy and simply mixed up their names, and Happy (despite his still-prominent crush on Carla) is more than willing to reciprocate.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: She becomes one of a sort to Juvia, bragging that her own love for Natsu is stronger than Juvia's love for Gray.

    Tropes applying to Faris
  • Anti-Villain: At a glance, she's a Well-Intentioned Extremist who leads a cult that believes Fairy Tail and the Five Dragon Gods to be a threat because their magic has grown too powerful, and her solution is to erase them and all other sources of magic until Earth-land becomes a Blank White Void. In reality, her mission to kill the Five Dragon Gods was forced onto her by Selene for little more than the Moon Dragon God's amusement, and she only goes along with it under threat of her own world's destruction, taking control of the cult out of necessity and getting her mind warped by their beliefs.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: She's built up from the start of 100 Years Quest as the next Big Bad after Zeref, said to be just as dangerous as he was, and serves as an equal threat to Fairy Tail as the Five Dragon Gods and Diabolos, the former of whom she aims to destroy as well. When she steps up to the plate and faces Natsu's team in person, her menace and bravado slowly unravel to reveal her as a mere pawn of Selene—one of the very Dragon Gods she sought to destroy—who actually has no idea what she's doing, before she's finally exposed as a mere pretender to the title of "White Mage" who took over the real one's cult because she felt she needed to, letting their creed against magic go to her head.
  • Didn't Think This Through: She demonstrates a critical lack of foresight to her actions at multiple points, which is driven by her desperation to save her home as quickly as possible:
    • In the Wood Dragon God arc, she brainwashes Fairy Tail and dispatches them across Drasil to destroy the five orbs maintaining Aldoron's power and dispatch any enemies they encounter along the way. Not only does this significantly drag out events to the point where Wendy eventually learns the spell needed to split her apart from Touka, but it proves to be entirely unnecessary as she realizes she could have simply sent Mest to warp across each town and destroy all the orbs in quick succession.
    • Once she's left with no choice but to request Fairy Tail's help in saving Elentir, she decides the only way to get them to hear her out is to take them to her world directly by using Aqua Aera. The problem is, she blatantly ignores Touka's warnings of how difficult the spell is to use and winds up sending herself and Natsu's team to Edolas by mistake, where they all would have been stranded without any magic had Mystogan not happened to have a leftover X-Ball lying around, nearly quashing what little trust she hoped to build with Fairy Tail.
    • Played for Laughs in an Omake set right after Faris erases Fairy Tail's magic so she can ferry them to Guiltina—at which point she realizes she has no idea how to even move them all out of the guildhall. After loading all the girls into a wagon one by one with a dolly, she gets the idea to load the much heavier guys with floating magic she conveniently stole from a wizard the other day, only to find out it doesn't work on the heavier members like Elfman. In the end, she suddenly remembers she can just put Elfman under her control and do all the carrying for her.
  • Disc-One Final Boss:
  • Orcus on His Throne: She spends the first half of the Wood Dragon God arc sitting back and letting her army of brainwashed Fairy Tail wizards and Jellal do the dirty work destroying the orbs that maintain Aldoron's power, at one point actually sitting on a throne as she issues orders to them. This turns out to be Justified as the orbs have a Kryptonite Factor for her that prevents her from touching them herself.
  • Really 700 Years Old: As the White Mage and founder of the cult Rebellious, she's said to have lived for at least 100 years, yet she looks no older than her late teens or early 20s. Subverted when it's revealed she took the mantle from the real, missing White Mage (who may or may not be as old as the rumors say), and has only been in Earth-land for at least a couple of years.
  • The Unfought: Despite being such a major antagonist in 100 Years Quest, and her ability to erase the magic of the entire Fairy Tail guild making her a force to be reckoned with, she isn't faced in direct combat as she gets mysteriously De-Powered right before the ultimate confrontation with her, giving Wendy the chance to separate her from Touka without so much as a fight.
