The Red Zeon Faction
Also known as the True Zeon, Axis or Sleeves faction, this section of the Mecha Cohort is composed of mecha pilots (mostly non-ascended) who are loyal to Char Aznable, Supreme Commander of the GUAE Mecha Cohort. They can be distinguished by the dark crimson uniforms worn by most of its elite pilots, in opposition to Gihren's black. More ardent officers here also believe in his father's political ideology of Contolism, that Spacenoids should be given independence from denizens of Earth as they are a unique sub-species separate from their counterparts.
The ultimate aim of this faction is to force a peace among the Alliances and usher in a new age of prosperity in the Gundam multiverse and eventually the Pantheon. As unethical as he is, they believe that Melkor's brutal style of conquest is the best way to achieve this. Most of the GUAE Mecha Cohort's forces are part of this faction, as Gihren isn't the overall leader and his megalomaniacal personality has earned him very little support among the forces, where Char has plenty. After the failure of the Demonic Legion, Melkor is watching both factions closely to ensure they don't go the way of the dodo.
Most of the Red faction comprises of Zeon remnants who survived the One Year War and evolved into Axis Zeon, Neo Zeon, the Sleeves, etc. Most of Char's expies have also joined up, as well as thousands of deceased pilots who jumped at the chance of resurrection. The Zabis serve in major command positions despite their mutual hatred of Char for masterminding Garma's and Kycilia's deaths. Gihren is a much bigger fish to fry after all.
