Films — Animated

  • Beauty and the Beast: Belle mentions she finished reading a book about a beanstalk and an ogre.
Baker: That's nice. Marie! The baguettes! Hurry up!
  • Fun and Fancy Free has as its second segment "Mickey and the Beanstalk", perhaps one of the better known adaptations of the work.
  • Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil: The giant is an owner of a nightclub tower, modeled after a beanstalk.
  • Shrek:
    • Shrek 2: In one scene, Donkey tells Shrek he used to be owned by a farmer who tried to sell him for some magic beans.
    • Puss in Boots (2011): The magic beans serve as the MacGuffin of the film, as Humpty Dumpty leads Puss in Boots and Kitty Softpaws on a mission to steal them and reach the land of giants to steal the goose that lays golden eggs.

Films — Live Action

  • My Cousin Vinny: Vinny cross-examines a witness to a murder who claims he saw Vinny's cousin and his friend walk into the convenience store and then walk out five minutes later after committing murder, all while the man was cooking grits for breakfast. When Vinny points out the impossibility of that, since grits take 20 minutes to cook, the witness, thrown, says he's a fast cook, and Vinny wonders if the man was using magic grits similar to Jack's beanstalk beans.

Literature

  • Davy And The Goblin: Davy meets Jack's cow and have a conversation together in chapter 5.
  • The Faraway Tree: One of the many lands the main characters ends up in is the Land of Giants, which turns out to be the very same land visited by Jack. They met Jack in the same chapter who helps them escape by showing them a newly-grown beanstalk, since the previous one was severed by Jack.
  • Mr Midshipman Easy: Jack And The Beanstalk gets mentioned in chapter 2.

Live-Action TV

Video Games

  • One stage of Gobliiins 2: The Prince Buffoon has the miniaturized heroes plant a bean on a magic map, and then climb down the stalk to return to their home.
  • In Infinite Craft, "Jack and the Beanstalk" is a possible crafting recipe.
  • Doraemon 2: SOS! Otogi no Kuni is set in the world of fairytales, one of them being Jack and the Beanstalk, where the player (in control of Suneo) climbs the beanstalk by jumping up leaf-platforms. The giant serves as the stage's boss, of course.

Western Animation

  • Futurama: "Leela and the Genestalk" is a Whole-Plot Reference to the story. It all begins when Fry sells "Old Bessie", which is what the Professor called the Planet Express Ship, which Fry exchanges for some genetically altered beans. A newly mutated Leela takes on the role of Jack, and the castle in the sky is owned by Mom, and at one point, they encounter a giant who says the iconic "Fe fi fo fum" line.
  • Looney Tunes has done quite a few parodies of the story:
    • Jack Wabbit And The Beanstalk has Bugs Bunny face off against the giant, with predictable results.
    • Beanstalk Bunny has both Bugs and Daffy Duck, when they're night fighting over who's really Jack (as well as the treasure at the top of the beanstalk) trying to avoid the giant, who is none other than Elmer Fudd.
    • Tweety and the Beanstalk has Sylvester inadvertently ending up in the giant's kingdom (the beanstalk grew under his bed), and Tweety is the giant's bird.
  • Before meeting Willie the Giant in Fun and Fancy Free, Mickey Mouse starred in another "Jack" adaptation in 1933 called Giantland.
  • Misterjaw: The cartoon "Shark and the Beanstalk" involves the titular shark and his catfish sidekick encountering the giant in a castle. After a lengthy chase, the two find a room filled with toys and make their escape from the castle using a toy plane to fly off.
