  • An episode of Full House is titled "Bye Bye Birdie". In this episode, on Michelle's first day of preschool, she accidentally loses Dave, the class' pet bird, when she opens the door to his cage and he flies out the open window.
  • Mad Men: On the third season episode "The Arrangements", the staff struggle to put together an ad for Patio Diet Cola that resembles the opening scene from the movie where Ann-Margaret performs the title song.
  • The Suite Life of Zack & Cody: In "Birdman of Boston", Mr. Moseby threatens a troublemaking hawk with "Bye bye, birdie!" before Patrick tells him that he loves the movie.
  • The West Wing: In the first season episode "Six Meetings Before Lunch", Toby, normally a grump, is so thrilled about Judge Mendoza being confirmed to the Supreme Court he does things like greet people warmly that he normally growls at, and even sings, "Put on a Happy Face".

  • Family Guy:
    • In "Petarded" (a DVD-exclusive scene), news spreads about Peter being intellectually disabled in a scene styled like the "Telephone Hour" sequence.
    • The episode title "We Love You, Conrad" (referring to Lauren Conrad) is a reference to a song from the musical.
    • At the end of "New Kidney in Town", Barack Obama appears onstage and performs "Honestly Sincere".
    • A track on the Live in Vegas album features Herbert performing "One Boy".
  • An episode of Rocko's Modern Life is entitled "Bye Bye Birdie". In this episode, Rocko and Heffer pet-sit Filburt's pet bird, Turdy, who dies when Heffer sits on him.
  • The Simpsons:
    • In "When Flanders Failed", Ned's wife and kids sing "Put on a Happy Face" to cheer him up.
    • In "Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy", Andy Griffith makes an appearance at the retirement home and a group of elderly ladies sing "We love you, Matlock!"
    • In "Wild Barts Can't Be Broken", the climactic musical number between the children and adults of Springfield is sung to the tune of "Kids".
    • The episode title "Bye Bye Nerdie" is a reference to the musical.
    • In the third story from "Four Great Women and a Manicure", Homer auditions for the lead in Macbeth and accidentally reads the script for Bye Bye Birdie.
    • In "How Munched is That Birdie in the Window", Bart's friends cheer him up after his dog eats his pigeon by singing "Put on a Happy Face". It works until Martin tells him it's from Bye Bye Birdie.
  • In the Dynomutt, Dog Wonder episode "Factory Recall", the reprogrammed Dynomutt, trying to kill Blue Falcon, says it will soon be "bye bye, blue birdie" as he saws through the underside of the Falconcar.
  • In the Sonic Boom episode, "Mister Eggman", when all of Hedgehog village finds out that Eggman is two credits short of being a doctor, they sing the "Not a Doctor" song to the tune of "Telephone Hour".
