A crossover made with this trope.

  • Roy Harper in Arrow, both before and after becoming Arsenal.
  • Battlestar Galactica (2003): During the Grand Finale the rebel Cylon Centurions have red "sashes" painted across their torsos for the big rescue mission so that their human allies will be able to tell the difference between them and the Centurions that sided with Cavil.
  • The eponymous hero in BIMA Satria Garuda has a color scheme dominated by red.
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Willow Rosenberg has red hair, and is a member of the Scooby Gang, a group of people protecting the world from the nasties in a Hellmouth. Faith and Spike even call her "Red."
  • Daredevil (2015) and The Defenders (2017): Red is the color associated with Matt Murdock, although it isn't until the end of Season 1 that he gets his iconic red devil costume.
  • Kamen Rider:
    • While the original Kamen Riders were primarily green and black, they also had notable red accents including one of their famous trademarks, the red Scarf of Asskicking.
    • The franchise has really embraced red in recent years, especially the modern Heisei era. Out of the 20 Heisei protagonist Riders, seven have red as the primary color of their default form, note  four have red as a secondary but important color, note  and three get close enough with pink/magenta instead.note  Even some Riders that don't start with red suits have enhanced forms that gain red as a notable primary or secondary color where it wasn't there before.note
      • When the production staff of Kamen Rider Double wanted their hero to be something other than red, they had to fight for it; they ended up making Double's primary form green and black, then arguing to Toei's bigwigs that those were the colors of the original Kamen Rider, which succeeded.
      • Kamen Rider Ghost takes it a step further in the Legend Rider mini-episodes, where he gets a form that draws upon the power of all the Heisei Riders prior to him; naturally, it's red with white accents.
    • This continues into the following Reiwa era: of the five lead Riders so far; Saber and Geats have red-white-and black suits, Revi and Vice wear pink (Revi as his primary color and Vice as a secondary), and Zero-One gains prominent red accents in his Super Mode. Only the fifth Rider, Gotchard, averts it by being primarily cyan blue.
  • The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Prince Durin is a redheaded dwarf who dresses in red. He has the expected short temper that comes with the typology of his character, but he is a good man who goes as far as defying the will of the king himself to help his best friend.
  • Luna Nera: Janara has bright red hair, wears red dresses, and is highly skilled with a sword. She's dedicated to protecting other witches from the Inquisition.
  • In Merlin, the knights of Camelot look quite dashing their red capes. Ironically, in the earlier seasons before the Round Table was established, this also marked them out as Red Shirts.
    • King Arthur is always seen wearing the color red, whether it's a shirt or his Pendragon cape.
    • Merlin often wears red combined with blue.
  • Once Upon a Time: Main character Emma Swan is iconic for her red leather jacket. It appears in most every episode of Season 1 and the show's initial advertisements. Additionally, she dons an all-red gown and bright red lipstick for her first official ball in Season 3.
  • Star Trek:
    • On Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: Enterprise, Starfleet officers in the operations division (e.g. engineering and security (the Red Shirts)) wore red uniforms, while command division officers wore yellow and science division officers wore blue. By the time of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, all Starfleet officers wore red uniforms with undershirts signifying which division they belonged to (e.g. command officers wore white and engineering officers wore yellow), with trainees and cadets wearing red. By the time of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Starfleet switched back to the TOS-era three color division uniforms, though this time, command officers wore red and operations officers wore yellow.
    • On Star Trek: Picard, the heroes fly a civilian freighter called La Sirena, which sports a primarily red paint job in contrast to the battleship gray of Starfleet ships.
  • Super Sentai / Power Rangers:
    • The Red Ranger is always The Hero and almost always The Leader to boot, to the point of being a potential Trope Codifier. At the end of Super Sentai's 25th anniversary movie, the previous Reds showed up out of nowhere to donate their power to the current team's mecha; and they appear again in the movie that kicked off the 45th anniversary season. The 10th Power Rangers anniversary was celebrated with all nine Red Rangers to datenote  teaming up, plus a red-colored Sixth Ranger to round things out (pictured on the main page). Along with blue, red is present in every Power Ranger and Super Sentai season.
    • Played with in J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai. The series started with a Red Ranger named Spade Ace in the lead; but a Retool brought in a white-colored Sixth Ranger, Big One, and had him upstage Spade Ace as team leader and the face of the series. But Spade Ace is still used as the team's representative when the franchise's Red Rangers are gathered together.
    • On Mahou Sentai Magiranger/Power Rangers Mystic Force, the normally purple armor of Wolzard/Koragg becomes red after their Heel–Face Turn into Wolzard Fire/Wolf Warrior respectively.
    • The franchise also has AkaRed, the living embodiment of Super Sentai's power, who can draw upon the power of all Red Rangers. He only shows up for Milestone Celebrations, like GoGo Sentai Boukenger, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, and Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger (the 30th, 35th, and 40th series respectively).
    • Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger has two Ranger teams competing with one another. To help sell the idea that neither team is more of the protagonists than the other, both teams have their own Red Ranger. (It didn't work, as the Lupinrangers were more popular and became a Spotlight-Stealing Squad.)
    • Played with in Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger. It's a team composed of one human and four robots, and the human team leader Zenkaiser is a White Ranger (similar to Big One). However, he still has a lot of red on his suit, so he doesn't stick out too much from the established line of Red Rangers. The actual Red Ranger of the Zenkaigers is one of the robots, Juran, who serves as Zenkaiser's Lancer. The situation is also lampshaded in a spinoff; a scheme to turn the Zenkaigers into a "normal" Sentai team includes a "Zenkai Red" trying to usurp control from Zenkaiser.
  • Most Ultramen, starting with the original, generally use a red and silver color scheme. Ultramen with more red on their bodies (Ultraseven, Ultraman Taro, Ultraman Leo and Astra, Ultraman Max, Ultraman Mebius, etc.) tend to be more powerful than ones that are primarily silver (Ultraman, Ultraman Jack, Ultraman Ace, Ultraman 80, etc.).
