Tropes:
- Accidental Murder: Kotaro thinks he causes Maimai — a high-schooler — to die after she slips on his bar of soap at the bathhouse. Without thinking, he drags her back to the mansion wrapped in towels and tries to convince Franchouchou she's a new member. Thankfully she was only unconscious and wakes up just in time before he can somehow make things worse.
- Ascended Fangirl: Maimai ecomes the honorary eighth member (though 7th in name) of Franchouchou.
- Call-Back: The opening where Maimai monologues about herself before dying in a tragicomic fashion, is a parody of the opening to the very first episode of the series. It even includes a sped-up version of the opening credits playing over death metal music while Maimai falls in slow motion.
- Chekhov's Gunman: Maimai shows up in several audience shots throughout Revenge, several of which get shown in more detail here to show that yes, she really was there all those timesnote .
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Maimai's extremely clumsy and quite impulsive. But once she works past those flaws, she's able to perform on the same level as her idols, Franchouchou.
- Fantastically Indifferent: Franchouchou being zombies doesn't seem to phase Maimai even a little, a complete inversion of the more horrified reactions other characters have shown in past episodes.
- Training Montage: Ai helps coach Maimai to perform with the others. The result is a lot of shots of her tripping or otherwise screwing up in her first attempts. Though she slowly begins to improve from there.
- Running Gag:
- Sakura, Ai, and Junko screaming their heads off at something shocking or horrifying.
- Kotaro seduces the school principal to secure a performance for Franchouchou.
- Secret-Keeper: Maimai discovers that the members of Franchouchou are zombies, but promises to keep it a secret.
- Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Maimai's one of the few characters on the show who doesn't freak out on seeing the members of Franchouchou out of their make-up (mostly because she doesn't have her glasses on and can't get a good look at them at first).
