Recap / Yu Gi Oh VRAINS Ep 68 Secret Meeting

Go To

Ai suddenly disappeared from the Duel Disk. Having determined that another Ignis could be behind this, Playmaker heads into LINK VRAINS to search for Ai. There, he encounters the Light Ignis. Playmaker then learns about the Light Ignis's motive and the truth behind the Cyberse World’s destruction!

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Armor-Piercing Question: Lightning, who notes Ai's attachment to humanity, questions the stability of said relationship and whether or not he completely believes that humanity won't be out to try and terminate him.
  • Bad Guys Do the Dirty Work: Before Ai could be fully absorbed by the Data Storm that was summoned by Windy, Revolver arrives and slices down the Data Storm, confronts Lightning and Windy and vows to terminate them both.
  • Best Served Cold: Revolver returns (and sports a new look, to boot), while his subordinates outside lay waste to the fake Cyberse World, and confronts Lightning and Windy, vowing to terminate them both, per his father's wishes.
"I've returned to the stage of destiny! In the name of the Knights of Hanoi, I will kill you! Prepare yourselves, Ignis!"
  • Info Dump: The episode reveals more about Lightning and Windy's motives; specifically, their intentions to construct a new Cyberse World which will be beyond human reach, and become the new rulers of humanity.
  • Saying Too Much: Having revealed their intentions, Lightning and Windy don't let Playmaker and Ai off scot-free, and imprison the two within some sort of duel program.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: As soon as it drops off Ai near the staircase leading to Windy's palace, Linkuriboh departs, leaving Ai by himself and with little choice but to visit Windy. Ai himself also was just about to go back home since he doesn't get along with Windy well until he sees that Linkuruboh left him.
  • Take Over the World: Lightning and Windy reveal their intentions to not only construct a new Cyberse World which will be beyond human reach, but also rule over humanity from within.
  • Trailers Always Spoil: The cast list for this episode reveals that Lightning (the LIGHT Ignis) shares the same exact voice actor (Issei Maeda) as the unknown figure responsible for manipulating Bohman's memories.
