Recap / Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS Ep 50 Transfer Student Takeru Homura

Go To

A student named Homura Takeru has transferred to Yusaku's school. Takeru also happens to be Soulburner, the Duelist who came to Playmaker's aid. Takeru and his Ignis speak to Yusaku about the destruction of the Cyberse World, as well as the new enemies...

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Awesomeness by Analysis: Takeru is quick to figure out Playmaker and Blue Angel's real identities after passing by them at school. Flame is also aware that Brave Max's real world identity is Naoki Shima.
  • I Lied: According to Bohman, the unknown figure supposedly promised to restore his and Haru's memories after turning in Jin Kusanagi's data. The figure quickly shoots him down by claiming that it's all in his head, and resets his memories.
  • Infodump: The episode details what happened to the Cyberse World after the downfall of the Knights of Hanoi, and who its invaders were.
  • Insistent Terminology:
    • Go doesn't appreciate Akira addressing him with the "Mr." honorific, and insists that he's only Go Onizuka.
    • Ai insists on Yusaku and Takeru addressing each other on a First-Name Basis on the grounds that a Last-Name Basis suggests that the two are just acquaintances rather than friends.
  • The Reveal: The episode fully confirms that Takeru was one of the six hostages of the Lost Incident/Hanoi Project.
  • Saying Too Much: So that they don't risk the possibility that someone may overhear their conversation, Yusaku and Takeru take their discussion to a ferris wheel gondola. Though Flame only suggests this because he wanted to ride the ferris wheel. He even suggests they add one for Cyberse World.
