Recap / Yu Gi Oh VRAINS Ep 46 The Circuit That Draws The Future

Go To

Playmaker and Ai are barely hanging on, with only a few Life Points left. The situation is all but hopeless for them. However, the two of them refuse to give up, and keep on fighting. In order to overcome Revolver's near-perfect tactics, Playmaker bets everything on one last draw. At the same time, the Tower of Hanoi is also on the verge of completion. Can Playmaker defeat Revolver and stop Hanoi's plan once and for all?!

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Accidental Misnaming: After Playmaker defeats Revolver, Frog calls Pigeon Sato to celebrate, but Pigeon then corrects him that his name is actually Saito.
  • Back from the Dead: Everyone who was absorbed by the Tower of Hanoi (including Emma, Aoi, Akira, and Go) returns to normal after Revolver stops the Tower.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Revolver delivers two in quick succession, firstly after Playmaker prepares another Link Summon, and then a bigger one right after Decode Talker gains enough ATK from Zero Extra Link to end the duel.
  • Book Ends: The first Link Summon Playmaker performed in the series was to summon Decode Talker. He ends the final duel of the first season by again Link Summoning Decode Talker, with the exact same theme playing to boot.
  • But Now I Must Go: Revolver sails away from home to an unspecified location, vowing to fulfill his destiny someday.
  • Graceful Loser: Downplayed. While Revolver calmly accepts his defeat and agrees to stop the Tower of Hanoi, he warns Playmaker that the Ignis remain a threat to humanity, and vows to fulfill his destiny someday.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard:
    • Subverted. Playmaker attempts to destroy all of Revolver's Monsters with the Effect of Mirror Force (via Transaction Rollback), but the Effect of the Extra Linked Topologic Gumblar prevents all of Revolver's Link Monsters from being destroyed by card effects.
    • Revolver's Extra Linking eventually becomes his undoing, however, as "Zero Extra Link" causes Playmaker's "Transcode Talker" and "Decode Talker" to gain enough ATK to defeat Revolver, because of the Extra Link he created.
  • I Gave My Word: As promised, Revolver stops the Tower of Hanoi and returns everyone absorbed by the Tower back to normal after he loses to Playmaker.
  • No-Sell: Playmaker attempts to destroy all of Revolver's Monsters with the Effect of Mirror Force (via Transaction Rollback), but the Extra Linked "Topologic Gumblar" prevents Revolver's Link Monsters from being destroyed by card effects.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Playmaker attempts to use this on Revolver, stating that while they have both endured dark times, Revolver was able to help Playmaker out of it, and thus Playmaker vows to return the favour. Revolver, however, dismissively scoffs at the idea of befriending Playmaker (and Ai), claiming that he is only begging for his life.
  • Off-into-the-Distance Ending: After Revolver loses, he sails off to an unspecified location in the direction of Stardust Road.
  • Pet the Dog: After Revolver and Playmaker's Duel wraps up, Yusaku frees Ai from captivity, allowing him to freely return home back to the Cyberse World.
  • Shout-Out: "Decode Talker's" final attack is a dead ringer for Saber's signature attack.
  • Wham Line: Playmaker declaring his revenge to be over as he goes through one of his "three reasons" Survival Mantras after beginning his turn.
