Recap / Yu Gi Oh VRAINS Ep 102 Entrusted Wishes

Go To

Ai destroys a part of the Neuron Link and enters Bohman's program. There, he discovers the five Ignis that were absorbed. After escaping from Bohman's program, Ai entrusts his, as well as the other Ignis', final hopes and wishes to Playmaker. And now, the battle between Bohman and Playmaker enters its final phase. The future of mankind and AI all depends on this battle...

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • All Your Powers Combined: Firewall Dragon Darkfluid is this in two respects.
    • It represents the combined power of the other Ignis, and has attacks themed after them.
    • Its abilities rely on there being Cyberse-type Ritual, Fusion, Xyz, and Synchro monsters in the graveyard, granting it one counter for each.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: It turns out that Ai saved a backup of himself within Roboppi as a safety measure, and thus quickly returns to Playmaker.
  • Cycle of Hurting: Playmaker wins by trapping Bohman in a loop where Bohman has to sacrifice counters to protect Perfectron Hydradrive Dragon, while Playmaker sacrifices counters on Firewall Dragon Darkfluid to negate Hydradrive Dragon's monster-destruction ability and allow his monster to attack again. Because both begin the round with four counters, Bohman has no choice but to exhaust his supply of counters first, costing him the game when his dragon's protection is gone.
  • Graceful Loser: Bohman congratulates Playmaker for defeating him a final time, and bids him farewell without further complaint.
  • Kick the Dog: Lightning shamelessly gloats as he points out that the Ignis (barring Ai) will inevitably integrate within Bohman as he had intended.
  • Mythology Gag:
  • Pyrrhic Victory: Despite Bohman's defeat, none of the people who fell victim to his Neuron Link immediately regained their consciousnesses, and the other Ignis were completely absorbed. Playmaker himself comments that the cost for defeating Bohman was too high.
  • Take Up My Sword: Bound by Bohman and incapable of fending him off by themselves, the Ignis grant their powers to Ai to pass on to Playmaker (in the form of "Firewall Dragon Darkfluid").
  • Together in Death: Highly implied to happen to Bohman and Haru in the end of the former.
  • Took a Level in Badass: "Firewall Dragon" gains a LINK-5 version of itself in the form of the 3000 ATK "Firewall Dragon Darkfluid".
  • Wham Shot: Playmaker summons his own LINK-5 Monster, "Firewall Dragon Darkfluid", to counter Bohman's "Perfectron Hydradrive Dragon".
