"Yu-Gi-Oh! is a production of the Children's Television Workshop."
-Yami Yugi
Tropes
- The Alcoholic: Tristan's voice, apparently.
- Coming of Age Story: Joey supposedly gets one by finally winning a children's card game without any outside help.
- Dull Surprise: Done hilariously in Joey's flashback to Tristan's death.Joey: (sounding almost sarcastic) Oh no, he's dead.
- Hold Your Hippogriffs: Yami Bakura uses "What in Zorc's name is going on?!"
- Horrible Judge of Character: While Bakura avoids being Obviously Evil since his regular self is calm and well-mannered, he still gives off some rather ominous vibes (besides his Ominous Latin Chanting Leitmotif) as his evil alter-ego is plotting against Yugi and his friends. They fail to notice anything off about Bakura, and when Yami Bakura does take over, they act genuinely surprised.Yugi: This came completely out of nowhere!
- Implausible Deniability: Tristan refuses to acknowledge his dramatic voice change.
- Malaproper: Rex repeatedly mishears "harpies" as "herpes".
- Ominous Latin Chanting: Bakura is introduced with Ave Satani playing in the background.
- Voice Changeling: Tristan spontaneously switches voices in this episode, going from his original ridiculous one to something more mundanenote . Thankfully, it's only temporary.
