• Ambiguously Gay: Ryou Bakura suffers from this trope so badly that his father had to equip him with a gaydar to protect him. Said gaydar is also responsible for clearing up any ambiguity in the case of Pegasus and Yami Yugi. Just kidding, Pegasus was a Red Herring.
• Easily Forgiven: Yugi forgives Kaiba for hospitalizing his grandfather way back in the first episode for no plausible reason.
• Flashback:
  • At the beginning of the episode, Kaiba recalls the battle he had with Yugi in the first episode. However, what we're shown is a recreation of the Screw the Rules, I Have Money! scene with their Season 0 counterparts. Kaiba then claims he should cut down on the drugs afterward.

• "Not Making This Up" Disclaimer: The first episode in the series to start the "Actual 4Kids Dialogue" Running Gag.

• Screw the Rules, I Have Money!: More like, "Screw The Rules, I Have Green Hair!"
• Serious Business: Kaiba is genuinely surprised that an actual child was able to beat Bandit Keith in a card game.
