Recap / Yu Gi Oh SEVENS Ep 23 That Which Lies Beyond Providence

Go To

Yuga and his friends reach the Garden of Providence. Nail Saionji awaits them, and Yuga engages in one final showdown against him.

Tropes:

  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Nail floors five of the six Tops of Hexagon by his lonesome off-screen. He also makes short work of Yuga in their duel in no more than three turns with the Maximum summoned Yggdrago.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Combined with Your Answer to Everything, all of the AI robots working in the Garden of Providence have their own wacky interpretations of what providence is to them.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: The Tops of Hexagon claim that their decision to overthrow Nail was a unanimous one. All Nail has to do to disprove that is point out that there are six Tops of Hexagon and only five actually present, so clearly someone disagreed.
  • Invocation: Nail has a suitably long-winded and majestic one for his ace monster:
"Heaven. Earth. Light. Dark. Creation. Despair. Immortality. Death. Destiny. These are the new truths which will fly through and pierce the world. Now is the time to bestow reason upon all creation with your three sets of insight! MAXIMUM! Come forth, Yggdrago, the Heavenly Emperor Dragon Tree!"
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": The sight of the Maximum summoned Yggdrago shocks Yuga and his friends, as they had never before dealt with something out of the ordinary in the world of Duel Monsters.
  • One-Hit Kill: Nail wipes out the entirety of Yuga's 4000 LP in a single attack with the Maximum summoned Yggdrago.
  • Wham Shot: Nail brings out a never-before-known trump card in the form of Maximum Summoning, bringing out one incredibly powerful monster split across three cards.
  • The Worf Effect: For all the authority they boast in Goha, the Tops of Hexagon who challenge Nail lose to him badly, demonstrating that his skills as a duelist aren't just for show. Him defeating Yuga with the power of Maximum reaffirms this.
  • Worthy Opponent: Nail seems to consider Yuga this initially, considering his road a good match for his providence. After achieving his illumination while fighting the Top of Hexagon, however, his opinion changes, and he tells Yuga he is actually too late to be of interest.
