Recap / Yu Gi Oh First Anime Series Ep 14 In A Bomb Game The Worst Date

Go To

It's a beautiful day to head to the water park, but Domino is rocked by a series of crimes involving bombs that the police are unable to stop. Anzu, meanwhile, is determined to see the Other Yugi now that she knows Yugi's secret and is put in danger as a result. With the clock ticking, Yugi needs to solve the mad bomber's puzzle in time.

Tropes used in this episode include:

  • Adaptational Heroism: In the manga, Anzu pretends to be in danger all day to no avail, hears about the bomber's warning, and goes on the Ferris wheel deliberately to make Yami Yugi come out. In the anime she pretends to be in danger to no avail, goes to the Ferris wheel before the warning's put out to sulk over not seeing Yami Yugi, and is targeted by happenstance.
  • Alone Among the Couples: Yugi has Anzu and Honda has Miho, but Jonouchi is alone.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Anzu deliberately acts like she's in danger because she wants to see Yami Yugi, but is horrified when her life is really at risk.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Yugi eventually realizes the balloon colors correspond to the park's flower clock, and the correct balloon is the only color that isn't represented.
  • Hidden Buxom: Jonouchi is surprised by Anzu's sexy body.
  • Internal Reveal: After questioning if Yugi has been saving her all this time, Anzu witnesses Yugi switch with Yami Yugi firsthand.
  • Mad Bomber: The main antagonist is a serial bomber.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Anzu gets very detailed shots of her bikini.
  • Older Than They Look: Yugi says this to the park receptionist.
  • Troll: The bomber loves to troll his targets. Yami Yugi pays him back by making him think he sees a bomb in his carriage, making him turn himself in.
