With Serena's loss to Yugo, she is sent away to the underground facility, but Security attacks the guards to take her and incapacitate her with nerve gas. At this moment, Reira appears before Security and challenges them, refusing to let them take Serena. Though he is quickly pushed into a corner with only 200 Life Points left, Reira remembers Jack's words to him, and resolves to stand and fight. Reira begins his second turn and performs a devastating combo to perform Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz Summons in sequence, wiping out his three opponents one by one. With their defeat, Tsukikage arrives to aid the two in escaping, and uses one of Security's radios to taunt Roget.
Roget tries to contact the capital building, only to find that Reiji has defeated the Security agents Roget had watching them, and the Executive Council is now safe. Furious, Roget orders the repaired Sergey sent to the building to deal with Reiji. Roget realizes he can't allow the public to focus on the battle Sergey will cause, and so moves up the next match of the Friendship Cup to that night. Security surrounds the building preparing to unleash Sergey.
At the stadium, the match is announced - Yuya vs Crow.
Meanwhile, seeing Yuri watching him, Yugo recognizes him as the one that kidnapped Rin and drives into the city to pursue him.
This episode contains examples of:
- Badass Family: The Akaba brothers are shown to be this, with Reiji defeating 6 Security officers off screen and Reira defeating 3 on screen in a three player OTK.
- Badass in Distress: Security uses nerve gas on Serena, leaving her barely able to talk, let alone duel.
- Character Development: Reira's is fully shown where he bravely duels to save Serena.
- Humiliation Conga: Roger goes through one this episode: first Serena loses, meaning he he can't use her as a star for his domination of the City. Then, Reira and Tsukikage are able to protect Serena from Security. Finally, Reiji frees himself and the council, forcing Roger to speed up the tournament, so he doesn't have the time to put a mind control chip in Yuya.
- Le Parkour: Yuri shows some impressive agility this episode by jumping off the roof of the duel palace and then jumping from one moving truck to a boat that is a under the highway.
- Mythology Gag: The truck Yuri is on when Yugo chases him is the same truck that kidnapped Yusei
- Not So Stoic: Roger finally loses his composure due to his plan failing.
- Pride Before a Fall: The three Security Officers that Reira duels are able to drop his life points to 200 and mock him. The next turn, Reira proceeds to OTK the three of them.
- Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: Yuri's reaction to seeing that Yugo is chasing him is to jump off of the truck.
- Ship Tease: When Yugo finds Yuri, his only thought is to chase after Yuri for Rin.
- Took a Level in Kindness: Serena shows concern about Reira this episode, when in previous episodes she hadn't really paid any attention to him.
- Wham Shot: We get a shot at the name, attribute and level of Yuri's dragon: Starve Venom Fusion Dragon and it's a level 8 DARK monster. The dub manages to keep some of the effect of the scene, even if it is just showing a Fusion monster card with no image or indication what it could be outside of its level/attribute/points.
