The Semi-finals begin! Yuya and Yuzu split up to look for cards, when the area field activates. Yuya finds himself in the volcano field, and is quickly attacked by two duelists from Ryozanpaku who team up and refuse to fight fair, one of them physically attacking Yuya to distract him while the other plays. However, Yuya is saved by a new duelist, Dennis, who intervenes in the duel via Battle Royale rules.
Meanwhile, Yuzu finds one card in the ice field and is approached by a fusion duelist who is a big fan of hers. Halil happens to have found three Pendulum cards, so the two of them duel, having a lot of fun in the process. Eventually, Yuzu falls off a cliff and lands on a duelist currently engaging Gongenzaka, accidentally turning their two separate duels into a tag-duel.
This episode provides examples of:
- An Ice Person: Olga’s deck is ice-themed.
- Avenging the Villain: Averted. Taka and Nagi don’t particularly care about Iggy to want to avenge his defeat. Hey simply want the glory of defeating Yuya.
- Breather Episode: Not all of it, as we still get enough of Yuya getting beaten up, but it’s refreshing to see two genuinely nice and friendly duelists battle. They even help each other out!
- Bullying a Dragon:
- Really, Umesugi (Nagi) and Takeda (Taka)? You saw what Yuya did to Isao, and now you’re also going to encourage him to reveal his dark side?
- Also, the three Knights of Duels ganging up on Kurosaki. C’mon, guys, where were you during Sora’s duel?
- Crash-Into Hello: Yuzu literally falls onto Olga.
- Genie in a Bottle: Halil’s deck is Genie-and-fire-themed.
- Gratuitous English: Halil, when his Pendulum Summon fails.
- Just in Time: Dennis barely saves Yuya from defeat.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Halil gets a minor example when Yuzu falls off a cliff.
