Recap / Yu Gi Oh Anime S 3 E 106 Mechanical Mayhem 1

Go To

Tristan, Duke, and Serenity stumble into a factory where they encounter the fourth member and tech expert of the Big Five, Nesbitt, who has taken the form of Robotic Knight. Sensing that Serenity is the weakest link, he challenges her to a duel despite Tristan and Duke's protests. He is annoyed by their persistence but sees an opportunity and decides to duel all three of them at the same time in order to win three bodies at once. The catch is that if they lose they will fall to their doom while their bodies are taken. For their Deck Masters, Tristan picks Super Roboyarou, Serenity picks Goddess with the Third Eye, and Duke picks Strike Ninja, and the duel commences. Unfortunately, Serenity's complete lack of experience hinders the group, and Nesbitt plays mercilessly with his Machine deck, making good use of his strong offensive capabilities, smart strategies, and use of his Deck Master ability, Final Artillery, which gradually depletes our heroes' life points. Eventually, Nesbitt is in a position to knock Serenity out of the match, but in a final act of heroism, Tristan summons his Deck Master to intercept the attack and uses its ability to set a card face-down. Unfortunately, the resulting power boost isn't enough and his deck master is destroyed, causing him to lose automatically, though his face-down card remains on the field. And to make matters worse, Nesbitt sends the defeated Tristan plummeting to his doom!

Tropes

  • The Ace: Downplayed; while Nezbitt isn't the best of the Big 5, he's still unfortunately good at dueling and is the most significant member with his victory over Tristan.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Tristan losing to save Serenity, and while his face-down card is still in play, Nezbitt banishes him to his doom, with his mind being digitized and his body being ready to be taken over.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Tristan loses to save Serenity.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Nezbitt is highly sexist, repeatedly attacking Serenity's monsters even when Tristan has weaker monsters.
  • Smug Snake: Nesbitt vows Duke and Serenity will join Tristan and is very confident he'll win from the start.
  • Tempting Fate: Once he and the others line up their defenses, Duke dares Nezbitt to come at them. Unfortunately, that's exactly what Nezbitt intends to do.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Nezbitt targets Serenity the most.
