Xena and Gabrielle continue to be chased down by various factions of the Greek Gods seeking the death of the baby Eve. Things get complicated when Joxer is poisoned and Ares offers a deal.
Tropes
- An Offer You Can't Refuse: Ares uses the threat of the various army of the Greek Gods to try and coerce her to conceive a child with him.
- Erotic Dream: Xena is plagued with a dream of her and Ares passionately kissing.
- False Flag Operation: Joxer manages to convince some soldiers of Artemis that he and Gabrielle were attacked by Xena.
- God Is Displeased: The Greek Gods make it very clear how they felt about the death of Zeus. They throw everything from storms to their personal armies to kill Eve.
- Just Friends: Gabrielle makes things clear to Joxer by the end of the episode.Joxer: Why didn't you love me, Gabrielle?
Gabrielle: I do love you. It's just not the way that you want it, I guess. I wish I did. - Mama Bear: Xena has little trouble defeating and avoiding all sorts of trouble with Eve in tow while waiting for Gabrielle and Joxer.
- Mook Chivalry: In one scene, much of the army can be seen standing still while a couple of soldiers go up against Xena and Gabrielle to be promptly slaughtered.
- Poisoned Weapons: Weapons used by the followers of Apollo tend to be poisoned, as Joxer painfully found out.
- The Three Wise Men: Exploited. Joxer thought those three were bearing gifts to Eve, but it was actually a ruse to ambush them.
- Time Stands Still: Ares stops time just as the full brunt of the three armies arrived at Xena's feet.
- Toilet Humour: Xena is willing to use anything as a weapon, even Eve's dirty diapers.
