L. M. Montgomery shows Xavier that if he feels lonely when his friends aren't around, his imagination can keep him company.

- Shout-Out: At the end of the episode, the kids state that Lucy Maud Montgomery went on to write Anne of Green Gables, and Dr. Zoom is shown sporting Anne's iconic red braids and straw hat.
- Shown Their Work: Lucy Maud Montgomery really did have imaginary friends who lived in a fairy world behind a bookcase. She even recites a real poem she wrote:"Around the poplar and the spruce, The fir and maple stood; But the old tree that I loved best, Grew in the Haunted wood."
