James the Cat is a British animated series from the 80s which centers around a rich cat named James who is left behind when his family moves to another house. He then makes friends with everyone in the garden including Citroen, Rocky, Mrs Lavender, Frieda, and Dennis.

- All of the Other Reindeer: In “The Confused Goose”, Gladdis was made fun of and mistaken for being a goose when she is actually a duck.
- Jerkass: The Ma and Pa rats, their neighbors who move in next door in “Neighbors” refuse to give back Mrs. Lavender’s hat in the episode and openly harass them at first.
- Kangaroos Represent Australia: Freida the Kangaroo has an Australian accent.
- Karma Houdini: The rat neighbors never face any consequences for their rude behavior toward everyone in “Neighbors”
- Laser-Guided Karma: In “Tea For Toad” Citroen’s cousin patronizes everybody so Dennis makes rock cakes to make him have gas so bad he flies away with it.
- Never My Fault: In “Neighbors” a baby rat tries to steal cherries from James’s tree and breaks down in tears saying they’re harassing him, even though he was the one doing the wrong thing in the first place.
