X-Men: Messiah Complex- Chapter Four

New X-Men Vol. 2 #44 is Chapter Four of Thirteen in the Messiah Complex event. It was written by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle, pencilled by Humberto Ramos, inked by Carlos Cuevas, colored by Edgar Delgado, lettered by Dave Sharpe and edited by Nick Lowe. It has a cover date of January 2008.
In the aftermath of the events of the last issue, the New X-Men learn that Cyclops hid the Purifiers’s involvement from them and most of them purse the zealots in revenge.
Tropes:
- Calling the Old Man Out: Noriko lets Charles have it when he attempts to calm her down in the beginning of the story.
- Dynamic Entry: Just before the Marauders can eacape, the X-Men burst into their hideout, not exactly willing to talk things out.Logan: We’re here for Rogue and the baby. Only question is how many of you have to die before we get them?
- Know When to Fold 'Em: Mister Sinister tries to flee with his group before the X-Men arrive, to no avail.
- Leeroy Jenkins: The New X-Men, helmed by Noriko Ashida/Surge go after the Purifiers against Professor X’s wishes.
- Revenge: This is the main motivation of the teenagers, especially Noriko who later fries Purifers while telling them to fry. She is only stopped from killing them by Julian Keller/Hellion.
