The time has finally come for the Family Wizarding Competition. Which sibling will become the Family Wizard?

- Bait-and-Switch: When Max is told that he'll be inheriting the sub shop, he's at first despontent, as if inheriting the family business is no substitute for keeping his powers. Then his expression turns happy as he excitedly tells the news to his older siblings, showing he's actually okay with the idea.
- Brick Joke: When Rooty admits the griffin was supposed to kidnap Crumbs instead of Harper and Zeke, he suggests that it was probably because it was sick of Crumbs' breath. When Crumbs declares Justin as his successor, Rooty protests as he thought he was in the running for the title. Crumbs states that all those year of bad breath jokes kind of add up.
- Call-Back: The third round is a quiz asking for the spells the kids used to solve some of the magic problems the kids caused over the series. The Labyrinth section also has Alex bust out the time stopping spell.
- Max getting to inherit the sub station counts as one, as a previous episodes shows that he is at the very least invested in helping his parents' business.
- Earn Your Happy Ending: At the end, all of the siblings walk out happy: Alex becomes the Family Wizard and is able to stay with Mason, Justin becomes the new headmaster of Wiz-Tech and gets to keep his powers, and Max becomes the heir to the Waverly Sub Station. Lampshaded by Alex, who seems pleasently surprised.Alex: Oh hey, we're all happy at the same time.
- Grand Finale: Of the series.
- Karmic Jackpot: Touched by Justin giving up his powers for Alex, Crumbs declares he will make Justin the new headmaster of Wiz-Tech.
- Passing the Torch: Crumbs retires from teaching and passes his title of headmaster to Justin. And with Max as the only sibling without powers, Jerry declares that he will be passing the sandwich restaurant to him.
- Secret Test of Character: After settling the differences over the whole disqualification ordeal, the siblings manage to get the sandwich shop back in business only for the family to be transported back to the competition. It's then revealed the whole griffin kidnapping and disqualification was staged to test if the Russo family bond could still exist without magic, which it could (although Rooty admits Crumbs was supposed to be kidnapped, not Harper and Zeke)
- What You Are in the Dark: Alex went back to help Justin get his foot out of a tree root when she was about to cross the finish line first. When Justin is about to be declared the Family Wizard, he protests and tells everyone what Alex did, declaring her the true winner.
