Episode 100: A Week in the Life of

Takes place April 12-16.

Short version

Paul checks on his various uplift projects and rescues Sandman's former sidekick from the Dreaming.

Longer version

This episode largely just follows the progress of the many projects in Paul's life. He invites Koriand'r to try out Alan's blue ring, with great success, although Kalmin isn't eager to forge another. He checks on the hospital trials of the purple healing ray, which will likely go into mass production soon. He visits Jade, who has just participated in thwarting a Reach attempt to subvert a planet using subliminal messages.

He also learns that Leonard Snart (Captain Cold) has received a large number of employment offers for after his time in prison ends (quite possibly at Paul's instigation), and that the god Vulcan is considering an offer from the Thanagarians, who have learned of his potential (as a forge god) to transmute Nth Metal, and are willing to give pretty much anything in exchange.

Paul later gets Melinoë to check out the body of the Mother Star to see if she can get anything from it. It results in her disappearance into the the Dreaming. Paul asks for assistance from Dream of the Endless, who will help get her back if Paul will look for Sandy, the sidekick of Sandman (Wesley Dodds), as a way to posthumously repay the man who used his connection to the Dreaming for good.

After some time, they come to the idea of using a bit of Dream magic to locate where Sandy is. Using leftover Dream sand that was left in the HQ of the Order of Ancient Mysteries to create a doorway directly to Sandy's location, they find both him and Melinoë are captives of a pair of Dream beings who have gone rogue. The two are subdued and both Sandy and Melinoë are freed.

  • All Girls Like Ponies: The Renegade did warn Luna that she might want to use a human form to visit his primary-school-age adopted children, but she was insistent that she couldn't properly present herself if she couldn't stand up straight. Naturally, she gets mobbed.
  • Alternate Universe: Lord Protector Paul, with yellow enlightenment, arrives on Earth Bet (the setting of Worm), and proceeds to clean house in Brockton Bay, from most serious villains to least, giving them the choice of reforming, leaving, or dying.
  • And I Must Scream: Sandy, the sidekick of the Sandman (Wesley Dodds), has been trapped as a sand creature in a bottle for decades.
  • Fake Relationship: As happened the previous year, Beautia Sivana wants to bring a date to her annual family gathering, so that she can pretend to have a healthy social life. This time, it's Ted Kord, who just might be interested in a Fakeā€“Real Turn.
  • Holding Out for a Hero: The purple healing ray trials have to ensure that they discourage people from deliberately hurting themselves in order to experience such a revolutionary technology.
  • King Incognito: Paul wasn't exactly hiding his identity, but several of Jade's guests only knew that he was her boyfriend. One actually asks whether he's a professional chef, after he mentions having made part of the meal from scratch. Naturally, they're startled when he later picks up the dishes with orange filaments and teleports to the kitchen.
  • Mama Bear: Persephone was already edgy about how friendly her daughter was becoming with Paul, after her own experience with semi-forced marriage. And then Melinoë heads off into space with Paul and mysteriously disappears. She is not amused.
  • No Biochemical Barriers: Paul helps cook for Jade and some of her coworkers, and reflects on how cross-compatible many humanoid foods are. He does have to make special dietary allowances, but for another guest with an alternate digestive system, not for Jade.
