Episode Tropes:

  • Book Ends: The episode begins with STORAGE fighting Pagos before it disappears and ends with Kemur Man defeated, Pagos reappears right in front of Yoko, who herself is also a victim of Kemur's contraptions.
  • Continuity Nod: A lot from Ultra Q, going as far as to bring up the events from 54 years ago (1966). Bringing up the possibility of Ultra Q's events taking in the same place as with the Land of Light continuity for this series. It helps that the title of the episode (see Mythology Gag below) is synonymous to the the said series' episode, "Challenge from the Year 2020". Its a bit of a subversion however, as Ultra Q's event took place in a different universe and this episode tried its best to keep it as a separate continuity without directly name-dropping any of the Ultra Q's elements.
  • Death Seeker: Kaori tries to ask Haruki to kill herself in order to prevent Kemur from causing more chaos.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: After being safely separated from Kemur Man, Kaori can finally live a normal and peaceful life.
  • Fighting from the Inside: Kaori was used by the Kemur as a way to infiltrate the human society. While Haruki was having trouble killing the Kemur without harming her, Kaori's gigantic form lend a hand by stopping Kemur's plan midway.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Kaori's true origin was a woman from the Showa Era, way back from 54 years ago. When Kemur died, she just stays in the present and had to adjust living in the modern era.
  • Mythology Gag: The episode's title is synonymous to the Ultra Q episode, "Challenge from the Year 2020". In a meta sense, said episode would be uploaded in Tsuburaya's official YouTube channel this Monday as with most episodes of past Ultra series seasons relevant to the series' Monster of the Week.
  • Non-Malicious Monster: Pagos. Just it was about to rampage on the city, it disappeared. Even when it reappeared along with the rest of Kemur Man's victims, it just went off elsewhere. Hebikura and Yuka explained that Pagos surfaces due to Kemur's erasing liquid had some sort of attraction to the monster itself.
