Tropes

  • Cold Opening: After the opening credits, the episode follows up with Neomegas killing Guesra, before cutting back to TPU witnessing the fight and thinking on what to do about the new kaiju and pondering about its purpose and origins.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Sawa Kaizaki winds up the main focus of the episode as it delves into her past, her ideology and even her rivalry with her former mentor
  • The End... Or Is It?: After Neomegas' destruction, the camera lingers on its sole remaining spike to tell the audience that Neomegas' role in the story isn't over just yet.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • One of Neomegas' victims, Sadora, is a monster with pincer claws; one of Neosaurus' victims back in Ultraman Dyna was Clone Shieldron who also had pincer claws.
    • Neomegas fights and is defeated by Decker's Strong Type, Neosaurus fought and was defeated by Dyna's Strong Type.
    • Neomegas' Breath Weapon is inidicated to strike when its chest organs glow, Neosaurus' signature Helix Beam was fired from its chest.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Sawa and the TPU soldiers destroying Maki's controlling bead prevents her form directing her kaiju... But also removes its power restraints leaving an even stronger foe that nearly kills Decker.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Neomegas' breath weapon is colored blue and it is indicated to strike when the kaiju's chest organs glow as a reference to Godzilla, similarly the way it kills Gesura (by firing its Breath Weapon down the kaiju's throat) is a reference to Godzilla killing the female MUTO the same way in Godzilla (2014).
    • Decker's combo attack with the GUTS Hawk is a deliberate homage to Denkō Chōjin Gridman as well as the Ultraman: Super Fighter Legend toyline and the Ultra Ninpocho manga series.
  • Villain Opening Scene: The episode opens with this episode's antagonist, Maki Shigenaga, finding the deceased kaiju that became the basis of Neomegas in a flashback of Sawa's.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: To the Ultraman Dyna episode "Battle! Monster Island" as episodes staring an artificial kaiju made by a disgraced and insane scientist to be the strongest of them all for their own benefit and which goes out of control by the end.
