Go To

The seventh episode of Tiny Toons Looniversity.

When Hamton gets accepted into a medical university, Buster is sad to see his best friend go, and tries to establish support for a medical program at Acme Looniversity. He soon learns that most toons don't need medical assistance due to their Loony DNA helping them come back from any Amusing Injuries, but his research leads to Professor Wile E. Coyote creating an anti-Loony DNA serum as part of a plan to catch the Road Runner, which leads to everyone on campus getting injured and Hamton having to return to save the day. Meanwhile, Plucky wants a trendy new pair of shoes after seeing Daffy model them in an ad, and turns their dorm room into a bed and breakfast, with guests sleeping in Hamton's now-empty bed.

This episode makes use of the following tropes:

  • Amusing Injuries: The toons on campus inflict these on others for fun, knowing they can just bounce back from them. Problems arise when Babs drinks some water contaminated by Wile E.'s serum and then remains as flat as a pancake after a safe is dropped on her head.
  • Impossibly Tacky Clothes: When Plucky finally gets the money to afford the trendy shoes he wanted, they're so gaudy and squeaky that everybody that sees him laughs, coincidentally helping to cure themselves from Wile E. Coyote's serum due to laughter being the best medicine.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: This episode's title is a reference to the 1963 drama series, General Hospital.
  • Road Trip Across the Street: In order to get Hamton's help when the whole school falls victim to Wile E. Coyote's serum (and also because he really misses his friend), Buster goes through an entire Travel Montage of treacherous terrain to get to Festerloon Medical School. When he arrives and looks back, it turns out that ACME Loo is right next door.
  • Serious Business: Festerloon Medical School is a very serious place compared to Acme Looniversity, to the point where laughing isn't allowed in class. However, when it turns out that laughter is literally the best medicine and the cure to malfunctioning Looney DNA, Hamton leaves in order to return to his old friends.
  • Tampering with Food and Drink: Wile E. Coyote sets a trap on top of the school's water tower and attempts to spray the Road Runner with his anti-Loony DNA serum, but falls into a Portable Hole created by the Road Runner, causing the serum to contaminate the water and infect everyone on campus.
  • The Thing That Would Not Leave: Plucky's B&B guests are a string of these, being a mud-covered hog that takes Plucky's bed instead of Hamton's, a family of bats that stay in his wardrobe, and a moose that plays hip-hop music at max volume the entire night long. The moment that Plucky's earned enough for the shoes, he pushes the last one out of the room and slams the door so hard that the moose's face breaks through it.
