- Mythology Gag: Virgil's painting Alan when the call for help comes in, referencing a bit from an episode in the original show. Here it becomes a chance for Virgil to get even with Alan for trashing Thunderbird 2 during the rescue, instead of prompting Alan to get even with Virgil to wasting his time.
- Outside-the-Box Tactic: Thunderbird 2 can't get close enough to the tower to get the civilians in and breaking the glass roof poses too much of a risk to the civilians. Thus Alan proposes taking off the roof.
