When Michelle becomes sad, the Rockhopper crew tries to cheer her up, but they fail when they don't listen to her when she tries to say what's wrong. So, in order to made themselves more compassionate, they use a behavior modifying machine, but it backfires when it makes them the opposite of compassionate.
Compassion Tropin':
- Aesoptinum: The X-Five One Behavior Modifier can change one's attitude with great ease. Fidgel planned to use it to make himself, Jason, Zidgel, Midgel, and Kevin compassionate so that they could listen to Michelle when she was feeling sad. However, thanks to Kevin breaking the modifier, Jason and the penguins became the opposite of compassionate.
- Asteroid Miners: The lobes work in the baking soda mines of an asteroid belt.
- Asteroid Thicket: The Rockhopper crew encounters one of these when Midgel gets distracted from flying the Rockhopper to play a video game.
- Celebration Miscalculation: This episode starts off with the penguins throwing a surprise birthday party for Jason and Michelle, only for Jason to point out that their birthday was two months ago.
- Cheer Up Episode: This episode focuses on Jason and the Rockhopper crew trying to cheer up Michelle, and failing at it. Its moral actually focuses on how trying to cheer someone up instead of listening to them can backfire.
- Long List: When Zidgel suggest that the Rockhopper crew cancel Michelle's birthday party and celebrate his birthday instead, he pulls out a long list of presents (that he claims is short) they could give him. He rescinds his suggestion once the Rockhopper crew gives him angry looks.
- Not Himself: Jason and the Rockhopper crew start acting like jerks to one another and Michelle when the Behavior Modifier is used on them.
- Removable Steering Wheel: The Rockhopper's steering wheel breaks off when Zidgel and Midgel fight over who's piloting the Rockhopper. Midgel manages to reattach it right before the Rockhopper crash-lands onto an asteroid.
- Security Cling: Zidgel and Midgel grab onto each other when they accidentally break off the steering wheel.
- Take Me to Your Leader: Zidgel says this to briefly trick the other crew members into thinking he's under the mind control of the x-five one behavior modifier.
