Edward is excited to be taking the Sodor Brass Band to a concert, but the day before the concert he is knocked over by a ship's boiler at Brendam Docks and has to be repaired. Bertie collects the Brass Band, but a storm from the night before has flooded a road and Bertie goes through a muddy field. Unfortunately, Bertie bogs down in the mud, but the leader of the band tells his players to tune their instruments and play. Edward hears the instruments and collects the band, getting them to the concert on time, which is a great success.

- Big Storm Episode: When Edward spends the night at the fitters' yard, a rainstorm rages through Sodor, which floods the road and makes mud that Bertie gets stuck in.
- Butt-Monkey: Edward. First, he's knocked off the rails and mocked about it by Cranky then he's told by The Fat Controller that as a result of the accident, he cannot take the Brass Band and has to be repaired, gets rained on while the workmen are trying to fix him and is then told that that he can't be repaired in time to pick up the band. Fortunately, he still gets to take the band to their concert after Bertie ends up getting stuck in the mud.
- The Freelance Shame Squad: Cranky sneered at Edward about the knocked off the rails by the ship's boiler:Cranky: You useless little engines are always in the way.
- Help, I'm Stuck!: Bertie gets stuck in the mud while taking the Brass Band to their concert.

- Short Cuts Make Long Delays: Bertie is forced to detour through a muddy field when his road is flooded due to the storm the night prior. Unfortunately for Bertie, he bogs down soon after and gets stuck.
