Recap / The Zeta Project S 1 E 11 Ros Reunion

Go To

  • Break the Cutie: The girl who starred on the show and was seemingly reunited with her mother is nothing short of devastated when she learns her reunion with her family was all a hoax. Poor thing is in tears when the social worker takes her away.
  • Family of Choice: At the end, Zee voices disappointment and remorse that the recent happenings ruined Ro's chance of reuniting with her true family. In turn, Ro let's Zee know that for the time being, he's the closest thing she has to true family, as exemplified when he went through great lengths to warn her.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: When he overhears the cruel scam that Harry and the social worker have in mind for Ro, he goes back to warn her while she's on live television. Bear in mind that Ro and Zee parted ways in the first place because if Ro finding her brother was made public, there would be no way Zee could stay with her without being discovered for captured. But Zee goes back anyway, willing to risk being captured rather than see Ro lose her own freedom.
  • Ignorant of Their Own Ignorance: The show's scam ran into problems for Ro even before Zee showed up as they didn't know that Ro already had a photograph of her brother, with the result that they hired an actor with a vague resemblance to Ro rather than find someone who looked more like the photo.
  • Karma Houdini: The actor impersonating Ro's brother isn't seen facing any consequences. Even if he didn't know Ro wasn't an actress, it doesn't change the fact he was deceiving the viewers until Zeta exposed the scam.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After Skye learns what was really going on with her show, she tells Harry that he's fired. Later, it's revealed that Harry and the crooked social worker were sent to jail for the scam they pulled.
  • Spanner in the Works: Downplayed. Had it not been for Ro keeping a photo of her real brother, she wouldn't have been able to see the actor wasn't her brother. However, it's also his personality or lack of "Rowen vibes" that also makes her suspicious.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Harry and the social worker's awful scam comes down to this. They use the television show to lure unsuspecting orphan runaways with the promise that they will be miraculously reunited with their long lost family. Seemingly, the show does find them. ...but then Zee learns that it's all a cruel trick. The families are really actors who pretend to be lost loved ones, and the orphans are taken back to their previous foster home by the social worker.
