After finishing their final semester, the gang are hit with one life-ruining misfortune after another.
Tropes:
- Birthday Episode: It’s Neil’s birthday, not that anybody cares.
- Double Take: It takes Rick ten seconds to let it sink in that his mother and father have died.
- "Everybody Dies" Ending: The lads die at the end when their bus falls off a cliff.
- From Bad to Worse: What started as the gang reacting indifferently to Neil's birthday soon leads to them being evicted for not paying their rent (and Vyvyan damaging the flat out of boredom), finding out that they have low test scores when they get them in the mail, them robbing a bank and commandeering a bus and ending with them falling off a cliff and perishing when the bus blows up.
- Grand Finale: This is the last episode of the show as it features the lads finishing up school, getting kicked out of their home and die at the end.
- Grew a Spine: Neil, after 12 long episodes of abuse, finally lays down the law with Rick and Vyvyan when he has had enough of their crap. While Rick pathetically tries to get the upper hand, Vyvyan knocks Neil (and Rick) out for his trouble.
- Tempting Fate:
- When an audience member makes the screen go blank, someone orders him to quickly get the show back before Elephant Head comes in and starts singing. As if on cue, a man with a plastic elephant head comes singing “Stop in the Name of Love”.
- Also at the end, when it seems like the flatmates have survived falling off the cliff from their bus, they all say in unison "Phew! That was close!" 2 seconds later, the bus explodes, killing them.
