Go To

After Jackie is split up by the Tiger Talisman, Jade and Valerie try to stop his Yang half from delivering to the Dark Hand the Talismans stored in Section 13. A retelling of "The Tiger and the Pussycat".

  • Big Sister Instinct: Valerie actually strikes Yang Jackie for pushing Jade.
  • Call-Back:
  • Cliffhanger: Tohru catches the Talismans along with Valerie and Jade before driving off with them as Jackie's two halves are left behind.
  • Dream Reality Check: While talking with Shendu in her dream, Valerie mentions that she normally wakes up once she realizes she's dreaming.
  • Emerging from the Shadows: While interacting with Valerie in her dream, Shendu hides in the shadows before showing himself in his serpentine astral form.
  • Faint in Shock: Valerie does this when she first sees Jackie's two halves.
  • Flashback Nightmare: When Shendu enters Valerie's dream, he finds her reliving in momentary flashes being lost in a forest as a little girl, then being told of her father's death, and finally her first meeting with Valmont.
  • Get Out!: After Yang Jackie throws the Dark Hand goons out of Uncle's shop, Valerie tries to threaten Tohru to leave when the big man recovers from being knocked out. Upon seeing Yang Jackie chasing his cohorts, Tohru opts to follow them instead of trying to attack Valerie.
Valerie: Get out of my shop.
  • Hidden in Plain Sight: When Valerie reveals that the Dark Hand's skyscraper headquarters acts as an office of D.H. Industries, Jade lampshades the obviousness of the initials.
  • Internal Reveal: Jade learns in this chapter that Valerie has known the location of the Dark Hand's hideout since "Enemy Territory".
  • Over-the-Shoulder Carry: When Valerie tries to escape from Tohru while holding Jade and the box containing the Talismans in her arms, he lifts her over his shoulder, carries them all to his car and throws them in the backseat.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Jade is disappointed and angry that Valerie didn't tell sooner where to find the Dark Hand's hideout.
