Go To

With Maddie's 16th birthday party around the corner, she invites all her friends and prepare her party the whole week, but when London wants to have her party on the same day, a lot of friction comes between them. Meanwhile, Zack tries to find "the perfect gift" to give to Maddie.

Tropes:

  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Liam is quite obnoxious.
Maddie: Carey, this is my little booger of a brother, Liam.
  • Birthday Episode
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: When Maddie finds out that London's 16th birthday party is on the same day as hers:
Maddie: [learning London has planned to hold her own sweet-sixteen party on Maddie's sixteenth birthday] This isn't fair! Your birthday was six months ago!
London: So? I can have my party whenever I want.
Maddie: I seem to recall, for your actual birthday, you took a cruise around the Mediterranean. What do you call that?
    London: Tuesday.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Cody knew Zack would try to pass up his birthday gift for Maddie as his own, so he placed an extra card inside telling Maddie he was the one who bought it, not Zack.
  • Depending on the Writer: London's intelligence. Moseby tells London she has 29 minutes with each of her parents. Right off the bat, she knows she has 2 extra minutes. However, the basic math required to figure this out is shown to be beyond London in other episodes, where she struggles to remember her last name or to call from 100 backwards.
  • Friendlessness Insult: Maddie's bratty little brother mocks her by saying she has no friends except for a "creepy dweeb" (Zack).
  • Shoddy Shindig: Maddie's birthday party plan was scrapped because her brother needed braces, so the only people who showed up were Zack, her family, and some bingo players. London meanwhile was having a giant, elaborate party at the Tipton, which, though an enjoyable time for all of the guests, was a mess for her due to her parents fighting and the number of party crashers. Plus, she actually gets locked out of her own party because she doesn't have an ID, and the doorman mistakes her for multiple other party crashers attempting to masquerade as her.
  • Your Costume Needs Work: After London gets accidentally kicked out of her own party, she tries to get back in saying she's the birthday girl. Unfortunately, a bunch of other girls tried to sneak in pretending to be her, and she's mistaken for another party crasher due to lack of ID.
