Return to Recap: The Smurfs (1981).
The Smurfs put on a play, based on The Three Musketeers and Romeo and Juliet.
This episode contains examples of:
- Big "SHUT UP!": Papa Smurf says this to quiet Harmony's horn playing at the beginning.
- "Everybody Laughs" Ending: The background Smurfs in the audience at the end of the episode.
- The Evil Prince: Subverted, given that Scaredy behaves more like his cowardly self as the evil prince and faints before he could say, "I do.".
- Getting the Boot: The Three Smurfketeers get thrown out of the chapel near the end.
- In Name Only: This episode is actually a Smurf version of "Romeo and Juliet", with The Three Musketeers thrown into the mix.
- Narrator: Brainy Smurf serves as the narrator of the play. Subverted, as he is never seen or heard again until the end of the episode.
- Show Within a Show: The episode begins and ends as a play put on by the Smurfs. It switches to a realistic setting, following Smurfette's message to the background Smurfs.
- Vaudeville Hook: Brainy and Scaredy get pulled off the stage by a hook during the beginning.
