When the Mystery Machine runs out of gas, the gang gets stranded in Winterhaven, a ski-resort town being haunted by the 10,000 Volt Ghost, supposedly an electrician who died in an accident at the local power plant.
This episode includes examples of the following:
- Convection, Schmonvection: Zigzagged. The 10,000 Volt Ghost is able to melt metal with his electricity, but can also open metal drawers with his electrical hands without any trouble.
- Not Quite Dead: The 10,000 Volt Ghost is supposed to be the ghost of Mr. Voltner, except it's actually the not-so-dead Voltner in the disguise.
- "Scooby-Doo" Hoax: The villains planned to use their disguise to scare people away from the area so they could buy the land cheap, then sell it for a huge profit to the makers of a highway that was going to be built.
- Shout-Out: Scooby does an imitation of Columbo when interrogating a parrot.
- Skewed Priorities: When she and Fred are looking for clues in Voltner's old cabin, Daphne stops because she thinks her hair is a mess.
