Nolan visits with a few of his friends from the academy, including officers Chris Rios and Erin Cole who are in a relationship together. Chris Rios is fatally shot during an encounter with an Armenian gangster from the Derian crime family. Evidence against Serj Derian, the suspected gunman, starts disappearing and Nolan realizes the Derian crime family has a mole in the LAPD.
Figuring out that Erin didn't have her body camera on during her shift, a manhunt begins for her which chases her into a baseball stadium. That is when Armstrong kills her during an attempt by Nolan to talk her down. Examining the footage clues Nolan into the fact that Erin was not the only mole in the department and Armstrong is, in fact, a Dirty Cop himself.
- Car Chase: Nolan and the entire Wiltshire LAPD have one for Erin due to her involvement in a cop's death.
- Cop Killer:
- Ruben Serj kills Chris Rios during a traffic stop. It was right after a conversation with Erin Cole, ironically.
- Armstrong becomes one of these himself.
- Dirty Cop:
- Erin was taking money from the Armenian mob in order to pay off her debts.
- Armstrong also turns out to be the mole.
- He Knows Too Much: Armstrong kills Erin to prevent her from talking about who else in the department is dirty.
- The Mafiya: The Derian crime family is a group of Armenian gangsters.
- The Mole: The department has to deal with one of these. It turns out there's two of them in the department.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Erin's involvement with the Armenian mob resulted in her boyfriend being killed.
- Remember the New Guy?: Chris and Erin are friends of Nolan's from the academy we've never seen before.
- Road Trip Plot: Erin wanted to go out in an RV with Chris to escape LA for a time. This was probably due to a desire to get away from the mob.
