The LAPD have an annual competition where the training officers try to see who can get the most arrests in a single shift. This proves to be much more important to Officer Bardford than the others due to the various complications in his life right now. He even goes so far to cheat by bribing a dispatcher with a date in order to get the best calls.Unbeknownst to him, the other officers would gladly let him win and are hoping he does.

West, meanwhile, attempts to win as well due to his desire to prove himself. Nolan and Bishop simply don't care due to their own larger issues and end up with a arrestee from The Mafiya.

  • Cute Bookworm: The dispatcher has overlarge glasses and a shy awkward quality that deserved much better than to be manipulated by Bradford.
  • Dick Dastardly Stops to Cheat: Bradford's focus on winning is unnecessary given none of the other TOs really care.
  • Discouraging Concealment: Discussed whilst executing a search warrant on a low level career criminal criminal suspected of a jewellery store robbery Bradford explains this guy will be a professional at hiding the loot, thus he teaches Lucy about the "DEAR" method of concealment, after walking her through the first three steps (Deception, Elusive, Access), he reveals the last step is "Repulsion" i.e. find an utterly disgusting place to stash things that people won't want to look in like the garbage or the toilet, and thus dispatches her to search a box of dirty sex toys in the perp's bedroom. After twenty minutes, he reveals he already found the jewels hidden elsewhere.
  • The Ghost: Averted. Nolan's friend who owns his expensive beach house finally shows up in-person.
  • Heel Realization: Bradford gets one of these when he has to reveal to the dispatcher that he's married.
  • Hookers and Blow: The kind of lifestyle that the money launderer apparently leads with two hookers.
  • The Mafiya: A noise complaint results in Nolan and Bishop arresting an Eastern European mob money launderer.
  • Serious Business: Bradford proceeds to cheat and manipulate a young dispatcher to try to win the competition.
  • Worst Aid: Nolan runs a kid up to a fireman to give him an oxygen mask versus doing CPR.
