When Michelle threatens Caroline to stay away from Jeff, Caroline must decide whether or not to dump her only client.
"So What's the Deal with Caroline?" provides examples of:
- Continuity Nod: Jeff is El Topo Chico.
- A Day in the Limelight: This episode centers itself around Jeff's agent Caroline.
- Distinction Without a Difference: Caroline tells Michelle that Jeff isn't "paying" her, he's a "charity case... accept that [she] makes him pay [her]."
- Functional Addict: While not functional in a "giving to society" sense, Caroline takes cocaine, crack, crystal meth, black-tar heroine and "an entire bottle of Flintstones vitamins" and she seems to be a lot more adjusted than those addictions (alone and together) imply. Especially funny when being sober for three hours is a long time for her.
- Has a Type: With the exception of Jeff, all of Caroline's clients are Former Child Stars.
- Lazy Bum: Caroline staying awake for "two whole hours" is like being "Al Pacino from Insomnia", the only contributions she ever does for her clients is produce a steady flow of prostitutes for them and running out of sausage pizza rolls is considered a crisis for her.
- Once More, with Clarity: The woman arguing over the phone with Andy in "Pilot" wasn't just played by Caroline's actress, that was Caroline.
- Take That!: Jeff compares his own show to Community: "the stupider it gets, the smarter everyone feels."
- Too Dumb to Live:
- Caroline made no copies of her contract with Jeff, Michelle ripping it up when she asked for it.
- Jeff tries changing Caroline's fee to $300 more than he did before when she tries breaking it off with him, the deal on her end not having changed in the slightest.
