Recap / The Really Loud House S 2 E 1 A Musical To Remember

Go To

With Clyde finally back from camp, Lincoln has the entire day planned for maximum fun for their last day of summer. However, things go awry when Lincoln accidentally eats some of Lisa’s memory-erasing jelly beans.

Tropes:

  • Brief Accent Imitation: Lynn briefly adopts an Australian accent at one point in "Knock 'Em Loose", stating that she will hit Lincoln with a cricket bat and make him holler, "Crikey!" (Ironically, when she swings the cricket bat and accidentally hits Leni and Luan, Leni doesn't use an Australian accent when she hollers, "Crikey!")
  • Continuity Nod:
    • On the staircase wall is a portrait of Lynn Sr.'s half-birthday celebration from "The Macho Man with the Plan".
    • During "Clincoln McLoud", Clyde mentions that he and Lincoln take down robots ("Ro-Bro") and hurl spitballs ("Better Together"), and that he makes Lincoln fly ("The Guy Who Makes You Fly").
    • Luna's idea to jog Lincoln's memory involves playing the titular song from "Heart and Soul" on piano.
  • The Cameo: Dr. Miller from A Really Haunted Loud House makes a cameo at the beginning of the episode.
  • Musical Episode: With twenty songs in total, this episode sports the most songs out of any Loud House media ever.
  • Musicalus Interruptus:
    • Rita and Lynn Sr.'s Mary Poppins parody is abruptly halted towards the very end by Lynn Jr.
    • In "This is Our Moment", the parents attempt to pull off a The King and I parody, but they stop when they realize their kids are all gone.
    • The parents also attempt an Annie parody, but the kids put a stop to that one before they can launch into a musical number.
  • Shout-Out: Rita and Lynn Sr.'s musical numbers reference various Broadway musicals:
    • "Our Time to Shine" has the duo reference Into the Woods, The Wiz, Fiddler on the Roof, and Mamma Mia!, with Rita briefly cosplaying as Little Red Riding Hood from Into the Woods and Lynn Sr. as the Scarecrow from The Wiz (whom he apparently understudied) and Tevye from Fiddler on the Roof.
    • The "Two Parents Full of Talent" sequence is a parody of Mary Poppins. Rita's dressed as Mary Poppins and Lynn Sr. is Bert, the song homages "A Spoonful of Sugar" and "Step in Time", and Lynn Sr. briefly references "Jolly Holiday" and "Feed the Birds" in his whistling solo.
    • "Family Meeting" is a parody of Grease, with Lynn Sr. dressed as Danny Zuko and Rita as Sally Olsson.
    • "This Is Our Moment" has the duo briefly cosplay The King and I.
    • "Meowmories" is a parody of "Memory" from Cats, with Lynn Sr. dressed as Macavity and Rita as Victoria.
  • Take That!: The kids are weirded out by Rita and Lynn Sr.'s Cats parody, a possible jab at its unintentionally creepy 2019 film adaptation.invoked Said parody also involves the parents inexplicably rapping, a nod to how the show briefly reimagined the Rum Tum Tugger as a rapper before it was omitted due to negative reception.
  • A Wild Rapper Appears!: The Cats parody has Rita and Lynn Sr. begin with a pastiche of "Memory" before devolving into them suddenly rapping.
