Chapter 33: Maddie, Marcy and Luz

In teaching Marcy about magic and researching curses, Luz and Maddie discover another form of magic.

- Thanks to Luz, Maddie realizes how much she's been neglecting her sisters much sooner than in canon. Playing with them lets the girls avoid the triplets using a growth spell on themselves.
- Luz discovers glyph magic before she travels to the Boiling Isles.
In Spite of a Nail: Luz learns about glyph magic and discovers the light glyph.
Locked Out of the Loop: Maddie notes how much context she's missing when Luz and Marcy talk about Cynthia Coven.
Out of Focus: Anne only makes a minor appearance, and the Plantars are absent.
The Reveal:
- Sheresade traveled to the Boiling Isles and learned glyph magic, meeting Philip Wittebane in the process. She managed to create a wind glyph and when she learned of King Andrias' plans of conquest, she left her journal with notes on the subject in Wartwood's town archives, but not before crossing out all but the light glyph so as to not risk Andrias learning the techniques.
- Luz was also a fan of Cynthia Coven like Marcy, but lost interest in the series when the author was caught in a controversy.
Take That!:
- Cynthia Coven's author is said to have been involved in a scandal that led to Luz being unable to enjoy the series now. This is based off the controversy that's been surrounding J. K. Rowling since 2019.
- Maddie goes on a very long, detailed tangent about getting obsessed with finding the identity of the author of a mysterious journal to the point of making a deal with a demon to learn the name. Luz and Marcy agree that would be really stupid.
Trailers Always Spoil: Arc 4's trailer ended with Maddie's prophecy in this chapter.
Wham Episode: Luz, Marcy and Maddie learn about glyphs and start to utilize the one for wind.
