A month after the battle with Tirek, Flash is confronted by a masked woman that accidentally sends him 20 years into the future. But Flash quickly realizes the future is not as bright as it initially seems, and it all starts on the day he was pulled from.
- An Arm and a Leg: A criminal Tetramand lost his leg in the Null Void. He blames Flash for putting him in that "hellhole" and wants revenge for it.
- Bad Future: At first the future Flash is pulled to seems great, with technology advanced, humans and aliens living on Earth together, and humanity spreading throughout the universe. But then Flash sees how bitter his future self has become and learns about the terrible things that have happened to his friends, which all started with Shining Armor's death.
- Back from the Dead: The chapter ends with Animac bringing Vilgax back to life.
- Big "NEVER!": Flash's future self gives him one when he tries to ask him about the alien forms he would get.
- Cliffhanger: The chapter ends with Flash learning that this future is set in motion on his Present day, with Shining Armor's death, and Animac resurrecting Vilgax, who wants revenge on Flash.
- Early-Bird Cameo: Flash's future self uses grown up versions of a few new aliens. One of them, that Flash guesses is named "Gemini", becomes important in the next chapter. The other alien, eventually named "Cat-Apult", becomes one of Flash's own new aliens of the season.
- Fighting Your Future Self: Flash's future self briefly mistakes his past self for a clone of him with a fake Omnitrix, and decides to take him out before he causes any trouble. Luckily though this is defied when Flurry Heart arrives and explains Flash isn't a clone, but him from the past.
- Foreshadowing: Shining Armor's fate is hinted at before the official reveal. Flash's future self states he can get the job done faster than any Plumber agent and makes sure there are no causalities, at Twilight's lab none of the pictures she has like her graduation include Shining, and Flurry doesn't mention him when explaining what happened to Flash's friends.
- Future Badass: As with 'Ben 10,000', despite having become bitter, Flash's future self is extremely powerful, having fully mastered the Omnitrix and gained up to 10,000 of its aliens. Flash even witnesses a couple of the aliens he will get.
- Future Loser: Apart from Twilight, the other Rainbooms sans Sunset Shimmer didn't have the successful futures they had hoped for:
- Rainbow Dash ended up having a Career-Ending Injury, with her not being able to get back up to the same level afterwards, leading her to becoming a coach instead of a sports star.
- Sweet Apple Acres was destroyed by a lightning storm, and Applejack ended up taking up a job in an apple canning factory. Even though she's good at it, it's not the same for her as she's a farmer.
- Rarity's attempt to become a fashion designer were ruined when another designer stole her line, and after failing to prove the theft and attempting to make a replacement line, she ended up blacklisted from the fashion industry and had to make a living selling textile.
- Fluttershy tried her hand at being a vet, but between the angry customers and having to put several animals down, she was driven to despair, leading her to become a hermit outside the city where she has an animal sanctuary.
- Pinkie Pie may be a subversion seeing as how she owns a bakery, but according to Flurry Heart, she's not a party planner anymore.
- Honorary Uncle: The future versions of Flash and Twilight aren't married, but Flurry Heart still calls Flash "Uncle Flash", showing her respect for him and how she sees him as family. Flash however, snaps at her not to call him that.
- Knight in Sour Armor: Flash has become one in the future. He is still a hero and prioritizes saving people, but he has Took a Level in Cynic due to Shining's death and has been cutoff from most of his old friends except Twilight and her family.
- Mistaken Identity: While Flash is in the future he is constantly mistaken for his future counterpart, with various guesses from different people on why he looks younger.
- The criminal Tetramand thinks Flash is his future counterpart due to running into him as XLR8, until Flash turns back to normal in front of him.
- The future Flash briefly mistakes his younger self to be a clone of him with a knockoff Omnitrix and considers taking him out before Flurry Heart arrives and tells him he's not a clone.
- Animac thinks Flash found an alien to make himself look younger due to being insecure about his age.
- The future Twilight asks Flash if he faced a Chronosapien that turned him young, before quickly figuring out what Flurry did.
- Cadance similarly asks Flash what happened to him before realizing her daughter did something.
- The Mourning After: Cadance is still mourning her husband Shining Armor's death 20 years in the future. When Flash and Flurry meet her in the cemetery she is dressed in all black and bringing flowers to his grave. It is also implied that Flash's future self is still mourning his death too, given his new abrasive personality.
- Mythology Gag: According to Flurry Heart, Rarity attempted to start her fashion career, only for another designer to steal her designs, and after failing to prove the theft, attempted to make a new line in time, which unfortunately ended in failure, her being blacklisted, and relegated to selling textile.
- Never Given a Name: Flash's future self stopped naming his alien forms. So when Flash guesses one form's name he is told it doesn't have one.
- Poor Communication Kills: When Flurry Heart first emerges from a portal in the middle of the street in front of Flash, she tells him he's coming with her without explaining anything and refuses to take no as an answer. This comes off as a threat to Flash and he transformers to fight her. Then in the ensuing struggle, Flurry's temporal-phase oscillator is damaged and accidentally sends them both 20 years into the future.
- Put on a Bus: The opening reveals that with the hybrids taken care of, Azmuth has left Earth.
- The Reveal:
- The masked woman that appeared at the very end of "Tirek's Rampage" is revealed to be a grown-up Flurry Heart from 20 years in the future.
- It is confirmed that Vilgax survived the events of "Secrets of the Omnitrix". The battle that left him dead in the future is still unknown though.
- Say My Name: Twilight yells Flurry's name in frustration when she discovers she took her temporal-phase oscillator prototype and pulled Flash's teenage self from the past.
- Set Right What Once Went Wrong: Flurry Heart's goal when she traveled into the past, hoping to not only save her father's life, but also change the future for Flash and the Rainbooms.
- Wham Line: The moment Flurry Heart takes Flash to the cemetery and points him to one specific grave. Flash recognizes the emblem on it before reading it.Here Lies Shining Armor
- What Were You Thinking?: Both Future Flash and Twilight give this to Flurry Heart for attempting to use Twilight's temporal phase oscillator to change the past. Even though Twilight understands Flurry's desire to save Shining Armor, she knows it's dangerous to mess with time.
- Whole-Plot Reference: The whole chapter is one to the Ben 10 episode "Ben 10,000". The only main differences being that Flash's Took a Level in Cynic being the result of a personal issue, and the chapter being a two-parter.
