Recap / The Omnitrix Hero S 3 E 10 Smashing The Competition

Go To

Timber comes to Canterlot to try to surprise Twilight, but she is busy helping Flash and Shining with Plumber business. Jealous of all the attention and fame Flash is getting, Timber tries to prove himself a superior hero when another hybrid attacks, but puts himself and the whole city in danger in the process.

  • Big Eater: Charger goes on a rampage through the restaurant district, eating every piece of food that isn't frozen. This is because he needs energy to recharge himself from using his hair muscles. He finally becomes full when he is fed a special cube that expands in his stomach, which Azmuth claims is equal to twenty pounds of food.
  • Bridal Carry: While Flash is flying on his hoverboard, he sees Adagio walking up to the front gates of the Plumber Base and swoops down behind her, sweeping her off her feet and carrying her bridal style over the gate.
  • Death Glare: Timber shoots one to Adagio after her "The Reason You Suck" Speech to him.
  • Easily Forgiven: Mostly downplayed, boarding on averted. After all the trouble Timber caused, including multiple laws he broke, Shining says that he should arrest him and lock him up for a long time. The only reason he doesn't is because he knows how much he means to Twilight, simply letting him off with a warning, but still bans him from Plumber Base, and nobody speaks in his defense over this. Although Twilight is willing to give him a second chance and not break up with him over this due to acknowledging it was partly her fault he resorted to such actions, she also still feels a little betrayed by him and the trust between them needs to be rebuilt.
  • Foil: Adagio and Timber are this to each other. They are both dating people associated with the Plumbers and alien activities, but have entirely different views on it. While Adagio started off as a narcist and enemy of Flash and his friends, she underwent massive Character Development and eventually managed to earn their trust. She understands Flash's work is important and is fine with him and Twilight getting along with each other since she recognizes Twilight is helpful and the two aren't flirting together. Timber on the other hand is resentful of all the "weird" alien stuff taking Twilight's attention away from him and is pissed at how close she and Flash are because of it. His actions when trying to win her attention back cause him to lose everyone's trust.
  • Heroic Wannabe: Timber thinks if he had the Omnitrix himself or some other alien device he would be a way better hero than Flash, bragging how he would take down the hybrid himself easily with brute force. When he attempts to actually do so by stealing an untested piece of Plumber equipment, he is reprimanded for his violence and the suit ends up malfunctioning, going on a rampage with Timber trapped inside.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Timber is jealous over all the attention and fame Flash gets for being a superhero, especially from his own girlfriend Twilight. His attempts to prove himself a better hero end in disaster.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Jealous at Flash over not just having Twilight's attention more than him, but being a world famous superhero everyone in town is talking about, Timber mocks Flash for failing to stop the hybrid in their first encounter and attempts to prove he's a better hero than Flash by stealing untested Plumber gear to stop it himself. This results in his armor going out of control and forcing Flash and Shining to save him before he destroys the city, gets him banned from the Plumber Base, and news of the battle just adds to Flash's heroic reputation while Timber is only known as the "armored idiot" and "metal maniac" that almost destroyed the town.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Timber was unaware about Shining Armor being a Plumber now since Twilight failed to mention it to him previously.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: A variation happens when Adagio recognizes the immature qualities Timber has and states that she used to be just like him for millennia until she finally grew up.
  • Persona Non Grata: As a result of Timber's action, including but not limited to stealing untested Plumber equipment, the harm he did to the hybrid, and the damage he caused when he lost control of his armor, Shining tells him he's no longer welcome at Plumber Base and tells him to leave.
  • Punch Parry: Riot-Horn and Charger both throw punches that collide with each other, and are so evenly matched that they cause a shockwave that breaks several windows around them.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: When Timber won't let go of his jealousy over Flash and how Twilight, his own girlfriend, doesn't seem as interested in him as she does in Flash and all the alien junk happening, Adagio calls him out on his attitude.
Adagio: You know Timber, I used to be just like you for millennia. Narcissistic, wanting everyone to adore me and think I was the best, and looking down on everyone else, especially those I felt threatened by. But I grew up. So when will you?
  • Shout-Out: Adagio's "The Reason You Suck" Speech to Timber, pointing out how they used to be similar before she changed and asking him when he's going to grow up, is similar to what Amity said to Boscha in "Wing It Like Witches".
  • Tastes Like Friendship: After going on a through the restaurant district in Canterlot, eating every piece of food he can find that isn't frozen, Charger calms down when Fluttershy gives him a cube that Azmuth created that is equal to twenty pounds of food.
